Q:

Adding weight to the hammer

I am going to do the mod of adding a weight to the back of the hammer on an SS.

To do this, I assume you have to remove the barrel, then the allen screw holding the power wheel in plaace, remove the spring, place the weight against the hammer, re-install the spring, power wheel allen screw then barrel.

Would this be the proceedure ?

Just curious… I know you need a heavier hammer to open a Condor valve correctly, but would like to know what benifits you get from adding hammer weight to a stock talon valve? I mean do you get more power than with stock hammer with PW turned for max hammer pre-load?

Another thing I noticed when I took my gun apart, the small screw in my PW is metal, not plastic, my gun is older, maybe they came like that a few years ago, I don’t know.

Thanks sotxguy. Yeah, I remember reading about that plastic screw. What the hell were they thinking ???

Remove the allen screw on the PW before removing the barrel. FYI that screw is plastic and strips very easily.
