Q:

# of shots in a consistant string at 30 foot pounds?

About how many consistant shot should I get in a string with a regular tank and 18″ .22 pushing 21.1g kodiaks at 845 fps.
I am getting about 15 now and I have no way to turn down the power any more than it is.
Thanks!

Triggerman, Do you have work done on your gun? My brothers gun is a bone stock 18″ talon in .22 and he pushes kodiaks at around 760 fps and gets string of over 25 to 30 shots all within 15 fps.
My gun has a heavy hammer and valve work and I cant get more than 12 to 15 shots before it goes out more than 15 fps. I start at 2900 and finish after the 15 shots at 2450.[/quote]

I’ll let ya know Kenny. The guy I just bought the other SS from is sending what he uses behind the hammer. Soon as the gun is here (hopefully in the next day or two) I’ll be experimenting with whatever it is.

Good deal let me know how it works if you do it. There was a thread a while back about using 1″ OD brass pipe you can cut to any length for different weights and works great for added weight on the hammer. I’ll try and look that thread up.

Kenny, never noticed any problems with the valve, just that accuracy went all to hell when I dial it down past about 6. Somewhere in here the last day or two, I posted about adding a hammer weight to the gun. Hoping that would allow me to dial it down more and still keep my accuracy and also maybe reduce a bit of the noise in the process

Rick does your valve open OK @ 2900 psi with your PW set lower, like around #4? Mine has problems for a few shots, then picks up. But maybe more pre- load on PW would help that.

Yeah, I wrote them down the last time I shot over my Chrony. Fill was to 2900psi and that 860 fps was the Avg for a 20 shot string. 3rd shot was the highest @ 874.3, the very last shot showed 848.6 with the Kodiaks. Refill on the tank started somewhere between 2100 and 2200 psi.

I keep one of those 7 day plastic pill dispensors filled with 25 pellets per compartment. That gives me 175 pellets to carry around and when I run out of pellets in one compartment, I know its time to refill. Shooting all 25, the refill starts somewhere around 2100spi.

Have you ever had the chance to shoot through a chrono to see how many shots you get that stay within say 15 to 20 fps in a string?

I’ve probably got the twin to your gun. 18″ .22 barrel, Stock (right now) shooting 21.1 Kodiaks at 860fps. My top hat is set at 0.74 and PW is on 9. I fill to 2900psi. I will get 25 full powered shots off this, and when refilling the gun, it is down to roughly 2100psi. I’ve never just kept shooting past 25 to see exactly where it starts falling off.
