Q:

Anyone with Hill Pump Rebuild Experience?

I’m in the process of a rebuild (waiting for kit) and was hoping someone might have some advice for me.

Where should I lube this thing and with what? Only diver’s silicone?

Thanks in advance.

S’all good now.

The reason was actually a little bit of both bikinicrazy52.

When I bought it I worked it…hard! I used it probably 3 times a day for 2+ weeks and then one day it wouldn’t go back down after about 1500 psi.

I took it all apart (with alot of help from a neighbor with BIG MANLY wrenches) and found a fair amount of rust on the insides and the central o-ring of the whole rig was cut. So, I ordered a replacement kit and a couple dessicant packages and went to work. Slowly. Lots of patient cleaning, polishing and then o-rings. Then re-assembly. I decided to try edward’s approach and am using Penzoil Full Synthetic for a lube for now. So far so good. I just pumped it up from 2500 to 2850 in about 8 pumps to I’m guessing its all better. If not, I certainly know how to take it apart now! Heheheh.

Still a hell of a deal and besides, I like taking things apart to make em’ run better with some effort.

For now, I’m happy again and can shoot tommorow!!

Hey Mamba, what exactly is the reason for the rebuild? Does it not work, or is it just worn out?

classicalgas … He was asking about FX Pumps though and was actually just asking for broken pumps – didn’t offer to fix anyone elses “at this point” and totally ignored my offer of a free broken pump.

There was someone on here trying to make a business out of fixing old pumps, but I cannot for the life of me remember his name. Hopefully he will see this thread though.
