Some thoughts on a HPA paintball tank?
I was wondering if these concor tanks are running 3000 psi and getting good numbers, how would a 4500 psi tank do? would the gun even be able to handle it?

MM, Im afraid you are going to have to stop posting on these boards. I like you allot and I love seeing your projects but every time you post now all I can do is think about your air compressor. Its very distracting so Im going to have to ask you to stop.
having had several valves, condor, new condor, talon, CO2; all taken apart, the valve internals for the CO2 adapter are the same as the old style condor valve. only thing possibly changed is the valve spring.
The advantage of a custom valve, like MM’s is it can flow a lot more volume of air (the af adapter works well but air volume is still limited by the co2/hpa tank itself).
HOME BUILT GUN WITH A 4500 PSI , 68 CUBIC INCH TANK.
THE VALVE IS CUSTOM BUILT WITH 5/8-18 THREADS TO FIT THE PAINTBALL TANK. IT IS 25 CAL. AND SHOOTS 60 TIMES AT 55 FPE. IT WILL DO MUCH MORE POWER, BUT ACCURACY SUFFERS.
THE HAMMER SPRING IS JUST A LITTLE STRONGER THAN A TALONS, BUT I NEVER CHARGE OVER 3300 PSI.
I USED THIS TANK ON ANOTHER HOME BUILT GUN (9 MM). CHARGED TO 4500 PSI AND IT REQUIRED A VERY STRONG SPRING


i was just looking at a CO2 adapter, and it looks like they just took a valve and took the tank off, and threaded an adapter for a paintball tank onto it… jeeze, i guess ill need the asshat for this one.
Well, the answer that i am really after is does the CO2 adapter flow the same amount of air as a ‘normal’ condor valve? or can it be modified to? i was going to use the CO2 adapter to facilitate using a remote tank. I figured it was easier to use that than make a small reservoir for the normal valve.
I asked this in the mod section, what kind of steel did you use?

You’re probably right, he probably just wanted to know about using 4500psi with a standard or standard style valve. I put in some extra data because of Voltar’s post.
It will be interesting to see how your experiment turns out. I figured someone had to be working on it! 😀
An HPA system for paintball will have a 4500psi fill and a regulated 850 to 1000psi outlet. Used with a CO2 adapter you will get CO2 performance.
As I attempted to explain in the ‘poll’ that HPA is NOT a PCP.
So as the question is regarding HPA then lets use the correct terms.

Any air cylinder by itself, filled with compressed air is an HPA (high pressure air) cylinder. Whether that be an 88ci paintball tank, 44cf breathing air cylinder, one of our 490cc talon tanks, or an 80cf scuba tank.
When the tank is mounted to the gun it becomes the pressure resivoir for a PCP air rifle/pistol. PCP (pre-compressed pneumatic) only designates the mechanism for how the gun propels the pellet down the barrel. 😉
I thought he meant what would happen if he were to shoot off of 4500 psi with a standard valve.
Jerry, I have created an adapter that screws into a standard paintball tank, and has M15x1.5 female threads for the standard valve to screw into. It is still being tested.
I’ve got a 4500psi paintball tank right here. First of all, you don’t need a heavy hammer, the valve is tiny and only vents a little air regulated to 850 like Voltar said (the valve on the tank is actually not designed to be hammered). This is not what you want for high power as it sits. Now, if you removed the regulator and screwed in a custom valve and used a heavy hammer…. Well, the tank itself is suitable. It is shorter than a standard tank and bigger diameter so you’d have some other issues to deal with. I’m a little surprised nobody has actually made a valve for these tanks yet.
Now this is the very reason for sticking to the definitions.
