This idea came from Talonsam and came out very nice so thought I’d share a couple pics.

Now time to go shooting.

yeah thats what i was thinking except i will get a flat tip like just a regular target pellet

The arrow one with a brass tip and ali body would be awesome.

Be happy to make custom ideas, pm me for details. Anything is possible.

Yes, the pellet design is available, if someone wants one send pm.

are you going to add that to your list of stuff you will make?!? can you make it bi metal too like the skirt alu. and the head brass?

Just make it out of lead and you’ll be set. 🙄

I think that is very cool looking. I LIKE IT!!!!! 😀

could probably get a record only deer legally taken by an air rifle 😛 😀

deer has been done legally with airguns before….

the talon should be pretty easy to make a muzzle loader…somely slide the barrel back so theres half a cunthairs distance between tophat and what normally would be the breech (talk about not wasting air in the brecch area huh) you would then need to ram the bullet from the muzzle….

i would suggest .45X cal lots of ammo choises….and the bigger the bore the more effective an airgun gets…look at the 1700 fpe 20mm custom airguns out there (about 1350 grain slug !!!!) 50 cal would be even better, but its getting hard to cram a big enough hammer in there, let alone a big spring….but it is possible 😉 if you make up a valve like mine (you can find drawings of it on this forum) and you load it up with 500 grain ammo, your will be looking at 500 fpe, certainly enough for deer

i would think a faster roundball that in 457 weighs in at 143 grain, at 950-1000 fps would do the job….thats about 300 fpe, thats what i got with my valve…i actually hit 1100+ fps with it and roundballs in the 30+” barrel, that a real flat shooting super hard hitting rifle ! in my rifle the power curve just wasnt good at those speeds…they would drop very fast….however at about 950, theres 10 shots that would have same poi at 50y, on a 500cc tank and additional 5 shots thats very useable and over 200 fpe….show me any bigbore that gets that kind of milage !

Nice, and appreciate the comments. I was considering .45 also. Lots of slugs out there plus the 5 different cast moulds that I already have. plus, thought about trying MZ sabots with .356 jacketed hollow points which are about 150 gr including sabot, some are designed to expand well with .380acp velocities (sub 900 fps). If it works out it could provide truly great results on medium sized game animals.

Massachusetts actually alows for deer hunting with airguns as well during muzzleloader season, as long as your airgun really is a muzzle loader….MA dont care what you use for propellant, several states are like that….

alright ill look at that i never knew it was legal to shoot animals like deer and stuff biggest think i knew someone shot was a wild pig in texas because there pests like rabbits and grounds hogs are almost everywhere

Hardly a new idea. Just an interest and ambition. many folks before me have pioneered big game hunting with air rifles. Search google for big bore airgun. You’ll be surpirsed what you find.

Do you have a barrel to go with it? 😀

NOT YET…….. 😉

Getting stuff together for a .40 cal conversion for deer season this year (our state game regs allow use of “.40 cal and larger muzzle loading rifles” says nothing about what type of propellant. Checked w/ local game warden and he said I’m in the clear but looked at me kind of funny 😯 when I told him what I wanted to do).

Do you have a barrel to go with it? 😀

Good idea, I like it.
