The higher your scope mounts, the bigger the difference. Yes it really helps, especially with our guns and the high mounts we are forced to use.
When you are sighting on a target the scope reticle will always be centered on the target. If you lean the gun to the side the reticle remains on target but the barrel has now moved to the side. The farther away the bore is from the center of the reticle the more pronounced the movement will be. So if you have a high mount like we do just a little cant to the side can move your pellet a half inch or more to the side. THEN, when you figure in the fact that the pellet is arcing to the target it makes things even worse.
Im terrible at trying to convey my point through text. I hope you get my jist, if not someone will splain it better Im sure.
Do these levels really help you shoot more accurately? Have you taken it off after having one for a while, and see if it made a difference (for the worse)?

It’s most likely filled with ethyl alcohol (low freezing point -173F) and
a very small leak would just evaporate.
I have got one. I used it to do some 120 yard shots, and for whatever reason it made my POI move to the left about 6 inches. I took it off and all was good. You can have it for $15 if you want.

I have that piece of crap.
It mounted level, but over time the bubble inside is growing larger and now it fills the entire window. Doesnt appear to leak, but the bubble definitely is twice the size it was when new.
Im gonna make my own soon.
