Top Hat or Power Wheel as a constant
Which is better to keep as a constant when fine tuning, the PW or the TH?
Should I adjust the powerwheel from low to high until the peak then leave it alone and adjust the TH until i get max performance or should I do the opposite?
Once I find the right TH setting will have to go back and get the right PW setting again since it will probably be a diff TH setting?

Actualy it is brand new. Three weeks old, direct from the factory. Will post picks. It will actualy turn 1/8″ on the stem and the top hat moves on top side to side about a 32nd” each way. Checked the screws and they are tight. I am pusseled.
Could you post a pic of your valve? If you didn’t get your gun new, sounds like possibly the TH has been changed/some work has already been done on the valve. TH should not be “wobbly” with both grub screws tightened.
Sorry, it is as shown on your link but not as shown on others. But the brass insert with the two holes in it is lower not higher then the outer valve body. The tophat does wobble and turn 1/8″ on the stem with the two set screws tight. Is this correct? Never heard any metion of it. Figure it lets it self align?
I can see your confusion, as so am I. My valve body is not one piece. It has a brass insert on top that screws into the valve body. My valve stem has two grub screws. The top hat actually wobbles and turns 1/8″ on the valve stem with the grub scews tight. I never touched it. Is this a new style or am I missing something from the diagrams I am looking at? That is why the outer valve body is higher then the insert the top hat touches. The top hat is also already radiused. Anyone have this style valve?
I’m having a problem following you train of thought ❓ Check the link I posted on how to measure the distance of the TH. From the factory, most THs are set too high. The only way to test/adjust it is with a Chrony 🙁
My valve sticks down about .25 from the tank sides; and the bottom of the top hat 1.00 up from the side of the tank. That would make the bottom of the tophat 1.25 up from the distance they normally measure. Sounds like it is way different then everyone elses. Standard talon ss bottle. Do not have a chrony but I am satisfied with the performance. Anyone have any input if this is normal from the factory?

Most prefer to stick with one brand/type of pellet for predictable results. Beeman Kodiaks, Crossman Premiers (domed), JSB exacts are some(not all) proven winners in LW barrels
Does it matter what pellets I use? I know diff pellets will produce diff speeds and such but I dont want to waste all my expensive ammo. Will finding the “hot spot” when adjusting be the same with any pellet?
General conscensus seems to be to set the PW somewhere in the middle and, using your chrony, LOL-see other post, set your TH for best/desired performance. Just make sure that the PW setting will open the valve reliably at your usual fill pressure.

It’s normal for the brass insert to be countersunk below the valve body. Still measure from the brass insert to the bottom of Top Hat.
If the tank is charged, nothing should move. The lateral play is unacceptable. Sounds like the Top Hat is only threaded a few turn onto the stem, maybe why its wobbles. Don’t know, just a guess
When you checked the TH screws were you able to back them out? They are set with lock tight and hard to break free
