Lovin’ WOK’s Butt…
Hey guys been out of town for a while, went to Texas and Oklahoma. Sure wish I had the kind of land out there to shoot. Anyways the WOK butt package was waiting for me when I came back.
For anyone thinking about getting this, just do it, it’s really a nice addition for your gun, it looks good and feels great. Very well made, doesn’t feel/look cheap at all, and being aluminum, doesn’t add much weight. Thanks Adam for quick, prompt service. I see now why these are so popular.
A update on my new Nighteater scope… it’s doing just fine, the only thing that bugs a bit is sometimes it’s hard to push the turrets back down to seat correctly after adjusting them, no biggie. I forgot to thank Rob3, and Teflon Tron for PMing me with there take on the Nighteater, as both these guys own them, recommended it, and help me make my decision.
I also went back to my 12″ barrel… with such a small backyard, the 18″ bbl with Kodiaks was just a bit much, devastating my wood target box, blowing the sides and top out. The pellet fragments were not only embedding themselves in the brick wall next to the box, but some pieces of pellets are landing in the pool, leaving marks on the fiberglass shell. I need a new target box obviously, but will stick with the 12″ shooting 14.3 gr until I get/make a new one. The WOK butt seems to help me getting better groups, as it fits so nicely in the shoulder, more steady.
Another thing I found is high rings with the Tri-Rail actually made the scope a bit to high, for me anyway, so I took the tri-rail off, helping me get a more consistent cheek weld against the bottle, again resulting in more consistent groups. I’ll be looking for low rings, and re-installing the tri-rail for it’s rigidity, which should put the scope height about where it is now with high rings and no tri rail.
Anyways here’s my gun with the WOK butt. Thanks again Adam, it looks and feels great, there is no downside what so ever using it!

Try mounting a good piece of “Grip Tape” to the back of the tank piece and on the face of the plastic disc under the cover. The increased friction should keep it in place.
The plastic disc inside the tank cover is the weak link. I know where to get metal replacement discs but to order them and drill and tap them and send them out in the mail, I dont think people would pay what it would take to make it happen.
Yep, really is cool to customize that adjustment. The ONLY other thing I can think of that would be the icing on the cake would be to fashion something like this, to able to adjust where you want it and be able to lock it down good so it can’t move. I’m guessing this wouldn’t be the easiest thing to do however. I photo shopped what I mean here.
Now you got it. That off set really does customize the fit doesnt it?
I used to turn titanium on a lathe at work years ago… pain in the ass, weird stuff, but yes it is a awesome metal if done right.

Adam, when our CD was released, I drove out to Hollywood to pick a few up. They only gave me 2 copies! TWO. I showed one to a freind, and he says “Wow, thanks!” I didn’t have the heart to to tell him I was just showing it to him, so just let him have it. The only other one I had I left by accident at a friends place out in Canyon Country off the 14. So now I have none. But if I ever get more, your name will be on one of them. 😛
😆 Love that stuff, it likes to work harden into an uncuttable mass and make mill bits grenade or if welded incorrectly it is as fragile as glass, but when you get it right it is something to behold, wicked strong and forgiving!
So WOK, when can we expect a WOK-Butt for moon travel? 😆
I just zipped off some wood from a old shelf in the garage, and milled them myself. I think the wood is actually mohogany. I always thought that section of the gun looked kinda unfinished in stock form, so I added the wood ‘rails’ to kind of detail it a bit, giving it a bit of a unique look from the others. (at least in my mind lol)
Here’s another thing I found out. I found if i adjust the mount off center to the left, and keep the butt plate verticle, it fits snuggly and perfect in my shoulder/armpit, making it more easy and natural lining the scope up with my body frame, and how I sit. With it set like this I can keep the gun very still when bench target shooting.. yet another improvement. I think I noticed this on other guns as well, but never gave to much thought on why some set it like that lol. Now I know. I had to re-zero the gun slightly however, but it’s sweet now.
I can see that the forearm grip is not on. Also, tell me more about that wood above the trigger, what kind, and where did you get it?

There’s a stock part on the gun that is missing, possibly giving it a cleaner look, it’s a part I just never put back on after changing barrels, because I myself thought it had a ‘cleaner’ look, and I really don’t need it anyway. Shouldn’t take long to guess what part that is.
Try pushing on the foam sleeve tighter.
Well the disc must has loosened up on mine then because if I tightned the nut it still moves. I guess I’ll have to look into some epoxy.
Its actually not anchored at all. The nut is mounted in a plastic disc that is held onto the gun by the foam sleeve thats on the tank. If the sleeve loosens up then so does the disc and nut. Some guys have epoxied this onto the tank to a more ridged mounting bolt.
How well anchored is the nut in the end of the cylinder ?
I have the stock butt plate on my condor and it has a little movement. I’m just wondering how tight the bolt can be tightned in the Wok-butt. There must be some kind of cap onder the foam cylinder cover because I wouldn’t think the fastner in in the tank it’s self ? Or is it ?

What kind of price are you thinking? I could see $100 for a Wokbutt and metal disk.
