Q:

My TalonTunes .22 Condor Chrony Numbers

My CF tank should arrive Friday but started to do some testing to find the fill pressures that work best with different pellets. Below is a chrony string of 50 shots using Beeman Kodiaks 21.07 gr pellets. The beginning starts way too high but thought I would shoot it out to see how the string went.

Let me know your thoughts on how these numbers look but it looks like 1650 PSI is the right fill for Kodiak’s.

2500 PSI fill with end pressure of 1650 PSI – 30 shot string – PW at 8-1.5. Then started 4th string at 1650 PSI and ended with 1250 PSI after 5th string.

I would fill that rifle once you get your tank in with like a 3K fill and try some shot strings with like the 28gr EJ’s or the 32gr. Yang’s and see how a shot string counts down with something heavier with how Tony has her set right now???

Looks like she might like a heavier pellet. The 28 EJ’s have always shot really well from my Condor around 850 fps and you can drop or go up in speed and still have a good POI with mine, might be worth a try and great fun trying stuff like this in the backyard while in stealth mode

Yeah, Southern flying squirrels are not all that common. They are strictly nocturnal and quite small. Too bad you gave it to the shelter. But no… my cats would have thought it was lunch. Remind me to tell you about the one one of my college friends had as a pet. It had a liking for sweet wine…

Hey Glenn, did you get a Tony shroud too? If so, how do you like it?

I was surprised how well it works and with the shroud off it sounds like a shotgun. Makes it possible to shoot this thing in my neighborhood. Have a very quiet classy neighborhood but lucky to have found a house with a 75 yard backyard. That was one of my requirements when we were looking for a house. Funny how this hobby can change you.

By the way ALF…I gave the squirrel to a shelter and the girls there got excited saying it was a flying squirrel and they all wanted to hold it. Good thing I’m married or I would have obliged with something else for them to hold 😈 they were cute.

Hey Glenn, did you get a Tony shroud too? If so, how do you like it?

Those numbers are based on the way Tony had it set up. Top hat measured with feeler gauge is .067 and the power wheel is set between 7-8 1.5.

Would be nice to have more shots as it seems I have to fill sooner than some other numbers I’ve seen on here. Didn’t really want to screw with the way he set it up and if my CF tank ever gets here I can play some more. At least I’m getting a hell of a workout with this pump.

But the one thing I love about this is I hit what I’m aiming at and that’s all that counts in my book. Even my wife is nailing pennies at 50 yards and she hasn’t shot before this. Well, she has shot my pistols before and for a little woman she can handle a 9mm pretty dam well.

Glenn, looks pretty good. What IS your TH setting? And your PW? The string starting at 1650 looks like the best so far. Lowest SD. That’s great if you only want to shoot 10 shots before you refill. Somewhere in there there must be a compromise that will give you more shots at about the same FPS and still have a low SD.

I chronied my SS yesterday with an 18″ .22 barrel. I was comparing velocities between pellets so I DID refill to 3000+ after every string (10 shots). But all I have to do is walk inside, I was shooting off my back porch, and hook the bottle to my tank. Anyway, avg. vel.975 fps. with JSB’s at 16.00 grains. SC was 3.66!! NOW, THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKIN’ ABOUT! Top Hat at 0.065 and Power Wheel at 6

Now, two semirelated questions. When are you coming over to shoot again? And how’s the squirrel doing?

PM or e-mail me on the last two if you want. Keep playing and adjusting. You’ll find the ultimate sweet spot sooner or later.

Those numbers look good to me. What do you have your top hat set to?
