mounting NVMT to scope
There used to be a great build a long or how to with lots of pics. cant find it here. Did it get lost?
Just got in my yukon NVMT. got the 1×24. need to take care of some feral cat issues round here as animal control cant seem to handle it. I figure darkness is my friend against my PITA lovin neighbors as well so I finally got some NV. Been wanting it forever, just needed the right excuse.
Anyway, need to mount it to scope. Figured I would go browse the plumbing section of lowes later today. But I thought Bones did some other stuff besides plumbing sheath. Anybody got some old pic or know where I can get more info.

My NV had a cylinder shaped lens so I just used a rubber plumbing coupler to mount mine and that held it securely without needing any bolts.
Here is the information I got from Will via a couple emails… not a lot, but enough to get you started perhaps…

Hey Rob,
So here is the part. You need to put the threaded end over the scope ocular lens. You can review my rig to see about how much you will need. Your leapers should have the same eye relief as my leapers. There is a lip on this threaded end that need to be filed down. You can strap the metal bracket with a belt clamp and srew it into the PVC to keep it secure (from sliding).

Yo, whats up Rob!
So must be nice having so many….moving targets for night time. Thats crazy that there are so many. Nuts.
Anyway here is a pic that shows what the cuts would look like. You simply cut one slit down the middle front to back, then cut sideways to the slit. You shouldnt cut further than half way down the PVC or it will loose its support.
These slits allow the piece to snap onto the larger occular lens with the illuminated reticules on them. This still is strong enough to hold the monocular, but if you want to support it further by putting the belt clamp on over it, that is your choice. I put it behind so it can expand easily and i dont have to adjust the belt clamp that way everytime i put it on.
The only other thing you need to consider is the eye relief of each scope. They are usually all different. Scopes designed for firearms have a longer eye relief so the mount has to be longer like the one in this pic.
Anyway, you know what pieces you need now, you can just go to the hardware store and make them yourslef. Cheap and easy….well…sort of easy. Hahaha..

Bones did it, was on the old site and was lost 😥
He used a flat rod with two holes at each end, one end held a 1/4-20 bolt that screwed into the camera mount on the NVMT and the other attached to a PVC tube which was clamped to the scope.
I think he did it that way because of the taper on the lens doesnt make it very stable to do the direct lens to lens that you can do with some other NV devices.
Bones ended up collaborating with Yukon on a system to connect their monoculars to scope’s – I was going to purchase one to test it out, but no one had it in stock at the time.

You cant tell from the pictures, but it doesn’t mount to the Yukon via the lens, there is a flat section that sticks out which uses the Yukons Camera mount to attach to and has a weaver rail on the side.

thanks guys that helps a lot. saw the old post but didnt pay close attention as I figured I would do it in a future proj. well now is the future. Time for some night hunting!
I have been destracted with some other stuff and also waiting for my trirail to come in from PA. Just got here yesterday so maybe this weekend I can get it sighted back in and play with the NV stuff.
So far I just picked up a flexable rubber coupling from HD that was 1 1/4 x 1 1/2″ seems to fit both ocular and NV well. dont think it would hold up to running around or taking a stumble in the woods at night tho. also bought a small L bracket that I thought I would attach to NV then clamp on to the scope ocular. will have to play with it. Once I get it solid and to my liking I will post some pics of parts, assembly etc for all.
Oh also… on the last pic above with the PVC split and hose clamp…… I am assuming that that end clamps to the NV correct? then the other side just slides on the scope? got that right or backwards? Never mind – just rered the above post. I got this backwards….. but on my setup the scope ocular is 1 1/4… looks like this pvc would work better for me swapped round I think.
