loctiting the tophat grub scres
What is the proper loctite and procedure to stop the tophat grub screws from coming loose ?
I tryed the search feature but couldn’t find it.

Thats not a problem because Loctite sets only when its starved of oxygen as it undergoes an anaerobic reaction to cure. Any Loctite in the set screw hole (the hex hole the wrench goes into, not the threaded part) will not set properly or at all.
I was told that the bottles are one of the main expense’s with loctite because they have to be air permeable – if you put them into an airtight bottle they would solidify.
Yes a little. It shrinks as it dries. I haven’t had a problem getting the wrench back into the slot afterwards.
So if you put some in the hole with a toothpick after the grub is already snugged up, wouldn’t it fill up the little allen screw hole making it where the allen wrench wouldn’t fit back in when trying to loosen it?
Or if you worry about stripping out the screws, a couple minutes of the missus hair dryer applied to the tophat will loosen things up nicely.
either is okay or apply after the screw is tightened, it will soak in. yes it will break free once set, just a little force will be required.
Should I loctite all the way around the threads on the grub screw or just half the threads ? ANd will the loctite break free ok if I want to change the tophat setting in the future ?
Finger tight with the allen wrench. I use the blue loctite, less then a drop applied with a toothpick. Takes 24 hours to set.

That explains why the little puddle in the screw hole never seems to dry.
