Here’s a stupid question about barrel length
How to figure out what the barrel length is without taking the barrel out of the gun?
I’ve measured from the front of the breech to the muzzle and I came up with 24″ So it’s a 24″ barrel?
Dumb question I’m sure, but I’m just trying to get a full handle on this thing…

From everything that been said, you have a 24″ barrel in a Talon SS frame (only difference is the Condor scope rail is longer).
The important thing to check for now would be what type of tank you have. You might have a gun that just had its barrel changed so it has a Talon Tank, or the previous owner might have changed to a Hi Flo Tank too.
The one on the right is a Condor (Hi Flo), left is a Talon.

This also means you have a 24″ er. Most guys want a shroud/frame extender that sticks out about 6″ beyond that barrel end, or about 12″ from frame end.

Yes measuring that way would be pretty accurate. When i cock my gun the barrel breach end sticks out about 1/8th inch past the bolt, so you could take your tape measure from the bolt end to barrel end and get a decent measurement, and maybe add that 1/8th inch to be more precise
Yeah, I called AF, told them the serial number on the frame, and they told me it’s a Talon SS.
But it doesn”t look like a Talon SS, the barrel is a bit too long, it extends about 6 inches beyond the frame.
Hence, my question… I haven’t taken the gun apart, and I’m pretty darned sure that it’s a 24″, but the analytical side of me keeps nagging me to “prove it”… especially if I follow through and decide to order a shroud.
The 18″ sticks past the SS frame about a 1/2.” But it’s almost perfectly flush at the end of a Talon/condor collar as seen here. This is how I’ll shoot at the rifle range where noise isn’t a issue.

I don;t get it, is there a way to determine such things?
as for your method of measuring it sounds good to me, if you had an ss hybrid it would have a 12″er and nothing would be sticking out of the frame.
some one correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the 18″er is flush with the frame
Thanks Saugus, but I’m sure I’ve got a hybrid Condor SS, based on serial # of the frame. I just want to make sure I know my ducks are in a row.

Sounds like you got a Condor, which has a 24″ barrel in stock form.
