Q:

My Avatar! Finally! And an Avatar Challenge!

I have long admired the creative Avatars of the other members, but could not think of one for myself.
Until today! It came to me while reading the post on the squirrel shot with the nut still in his mouth when he died.

Scrat in the crosshairs!

It took me only 20 min of tweaking to get it where it is.
I used 2 free photo editing programs to do it.
Ultimate Paint (free limited version) and PhotoFiltre.

Ultimate Paint

PhotoFiltre

Now the challenge!
To all of you Avatarless members… let’s see what ya got!
Whip up an avatar and let us see it!

OK, I’ll join the club…

That’s pretty cool looking, if I do say so myself….

Thank you sir. Its good to see the penguin up and running.
“el pingΓΌino del muerte” 😈 (the penguin of death) 8)

Done.

If anyone wants to add/change their Avatar, the procedure is simple. Simply go into your “Profile” page and scroll down towards the bottom and the box that says “Link to Off Site Avatar”. In that box paste the address of the image that you want, click “Submit” and that’s it. In Pinguino’s case, for example, that is “http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj244/k-pinguino/penguin.jpg”.

If anyone has any questions just ask.

OK Tron could I have a little help with mine too please.

I think that 150 wide is the maximum that I would allow, and as you say, the height is not as important, with maybe 200 or so being about the limit.

A few tips for those not familiar with doing images small enough for an Avatar.
I created mine full size then used the program to resize it to a specific size. If you then decide to make it bigger than the first attempt, always downsize from the original rather than upsize a smaller one, as you will loose detail working from the small one up more than from the large one down to a set size. There is only so much detail in the small one to work with and so much more image detail in the large one so the end result looks better.

Ideally it should probably be no larger than 150×150 pixels so or fit in that range as close as possible. Maybe 150 wide and a bit taller would work too because most of the time the text from bottom to top is at least that tall anyhow, so it won’t really affect the post size much that way. (check others by right-clicking over them and selecting Properties to see the image size)

The reason being that any larger and it pushes the text to the right to fit and to a point it works, but too big and it skews the page off so you can not read without scrolling right constantly. (sort of how large pictures do, but if the detail is needed, it is acceptable for those)

Any suggestions from the Admins on max size?

I see WalkonKing’s is 100×166 and it looks great and is not too large either!
I see zashark’s is 150×150 and does not look too big and has the detail it needs to pull it off.
A quick check of others and they all roughly fall into this range with most being less than 120×120 and many are within a range of 100×100 pixels.

LOL that’s a good one πŸ˜†

Post the http link of the image and I’ll do it for you, Knifey.

I’ve tried several times to post an avatar here with no success. πŸ˜₯

Ok,

I guess it’s time to think of a new avatar for myself.

I will see what I can come up with.

Roger
