Q:

Finally decided to take the plunge.

My name is Lou and this is my first post. I am 42yoa and live in Tampa, FL. I am about to order a Talon SS. My big question is what accessories should I buy first? I am going the compressed air route with a pump. Which hand pump should I get? Is one better than the other? It will be used primarily for small game hunting and pest control. I was looking at the .22 cal. with probably a Leapers or a Mueller scope. If I go with the Leapers, does anyone know of a reasonable 30mm scope ring that will fit t he 11mm rail, or should I just get a 11mm to weaver mount. Also if I go with the Tri-rail, what height rings should I get.
I’m sorry for the abundance of questions, but I want to try and do it right the first time. I have been around firearms all my life and am an accomplished shooter. However, I am very new to the high powered air rife. I decided on the Talon because of its looks, reviews, power, accuracy, accessories, and it’s made in USA.
Thanks for any help. I am very anxious.

Love My TSS…that’s the best avatar, IMO 😀

Hi Steve.

“AA”, Airguns Anonymous…Hi, my name is Steve…I have a Talon SS which I been addicted to for the last year… 😀

Welcome Lou, just warning you, you may not know what you are getting yourself into lol. It’s very addicting… but you’ve ordered your gun, so there’s no turning back now! Have fun with it and keep us informed on your new TSS. 🙂 I’ve got about 1K in mine as of today… HELP! 😯 😀

Hi Lou, welcome to the forum. You are going to love your TSS. They shoot well and kill pests with authority. All with no recoil. Short, light weight, powerful and accurate. I don’t use mine to its full potential. I pop rats at 24 feet. Very close, but effective. Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks for all the help guys!
Ordered my .22 cal Talon SS today.
Got a good deal on a Hill pump also.

Can’t wait til it comes in to set it up.
I’ll post pics then.

Thanks again for all the input!!!!!

Where is a good place to purchase a Hill pump and what do they cost?

Pilkenton has the hill pump for $205

They are awsome and thry are cheaper at airgunsofarizona.com. JW

Hey Lou,

In case you’re anywhere near Gandy Blvd. – Action Aquatics will be stocking the Mueller scopes shortly. Having been down the Hill pump route myslef, I would honeslty just skip it and apply that $$ toward a 4500 psi tank. You won’t regret it…pumps are a royal pain in the ass.

Get the Tri-rail sccrsspry and medium or tall rimfire mounts for whatever scope you wind up with.

Straight Shooters $325

Where is a good place to purchase a Hill pump and what do they cost?

1. Hill pump better built than a Air Force pump.

2. With a Tri-rail go with MED Rings – any 11mm rings will work because their is no recoil. I went with B-Square adjustables in a mid size and like the set up.

3. With OUT Tri-rail go with a one peice HI mount rings to help support the rifle.

4. SCOPE – Choose the one you like the best. I have a Bushnell Legend 5x15x40 and really like the glass in it.
