Pellet suggestions ?
Hey guys,
Been away from this site for a while and away from talons as well but looking to buy a SS in .177. Any thoughts on what pellet might work in a SS? I know every gun is different but there also might be some consistent favorites out there. Hoping to shoot 10 grainers.

I’m actually speaking of .22 JSB Exacts 15.9ish grain. But its interesting to hear even the smaller pellets have the same problems.
Kodiaks here I go for more testing.
Thought about CP’s but I do love the Lead properties of JSB and Kodiaks.. just hoping the skirt issue isnt a problem with Kodiaks. It could be that my barrel just likes the tighter fit of the Kodiaks. We shall see this weekend when I can do long shot strings
yeah thats .177— I was speaking of– and I agree jsb skirts mash up really easily… crosman heavies are really stout-havent seen one in my box of .177 or .20 cal that is damaged.
Not sure you guys are speaking of .177 the whole time here but I have had similar thoughts about my JSB’s in .22. Many dented skirts. After a bunch of testing I swithed to CP’s in another gun I have. More accurate more of the time. Very few dented skirts. Cp’s are the only pellets I have opened that have a piece of foam on the BOTTOM. A nice cushion to absorb shipping bumps, ect.
I have switched to Kodiak’s which have a great seal in my barrel and are shooting slightly more accurate due to the tighter skirt and less deformities I believe. I need to do some more testing. I think the JSB’s were just too soft for me.
I’ve been disapointed with the Exacts as well, deformed skirts, some really bad. I thought maybe the choke would help some as they left the barrel, but they just aren’t grouping that well for me either, and I bought 4 500 ct tins. I’ll do a 1/4″ group with 4 shots, and then get that dreaded flyer opening it up to a 3/4″ group on the 5th shot, really frustrating. They used to be much more consistant for me.

thanks for your input. it looks like the SS .177 likes a lot of different pellets. I particularly like the 10.5 and 10.6 gr shooting at 900-925. Perfect.
Now its time to ORDER!
Crosman heavies-10.5 Kodiaks 10.6 and Beeman field target specials at 8.8-8.6 are also real accurate at 850 or so that about pw 6-7—-the 10.5- and 10.6 pellets at pw8-9 right around 900-925 fps…that is the 12″ barrel. The 18″ barrel gets the 10.5-10.6 grainers above 1000 fps — I have flown kodiaks and heavy crosmans at 1020-1040 and they are accurate.

Crosman Premiers, JSB’s, and Kodiaks certainly seem to be the top 3 for most shooters here.
