crosman custom question
I’m playing around with getting a custom built from the crosman shop and I have a couple of quick questions.
1 – is the only real reasons to get one from them is the steel breech and 10″ barrel, or should I just get one off the shelf and start in on the mods?
2 – are the 10″ers any good or once again should I go aftermarket?
3 – what is the difference between the short steel and the long steel breeches, and what are the advantages and disadvantages to them?
any info on this will help me out allot because I really don’t know shit about them besides I want a hard hitting, accurate .22 pistol, so let me know if I’m looking in the right direction, Thanks – GTBjay

I bought a carbine from the crosman custom shop about a month ago and liked it so much I ordered a second one last week. I got the long metal breach with 10″ LW .177 barrel, and carbon fiber looking stock. With a reddot and me shooting (I suck) it puts 30 pellets in a .4 ctc hole at 12 yards. I really love it.
I priced buying a 2240 or 2250 and then adding a metal breach and other stuff to get the same gun. The custom shop was a LOT cheaper, but I did notice that when I when to buy the second gun from it the prices were about 15% higher. What I bought for $195 was now $230. I still think it is a great deal to buy from the custom shop.
that when you go the custom shop route the builder picks the best components!!. either way it is about as cheap to just buy the custom shop gun may by cheaper in the long run!
I think its a bit cheaper to have them put the Steel Breech on than you get it and then buy the steel breech ($30 + $8 S&H for the Breech). It also allows you to pick several different types of open sites which aren’t available last I knew as parts from Crosman by themselves along with the muzzle break.
All the barrels are fine, you just have to weigh up which is more important, max power or shortest length.
I’d prefer the long steel breech – I feel more of the barrel is going to be supported that way.
I’ve had 3 Crosman CO2 Pistols – 1 was from the Custom store and I felt it was worthwhile ordering from them.

Thanks for all the info, looks like I should just go for it, but it seems like I’m missing something. the gun I built on their sight comes out at just under $160 for basically a .22 2300 w/ the all the fun stuff I want on it and you look at the comparable .177 off the shelf stock gun and it running at $225 at the crosman store and $200 at P/A. Am I missing something, is it the same adjustable trigger and so on?
