I need help
First of all let me tell you that I live in Mexico and to buy a CO2 or PCP here you need to buy it from a licenced dealer. There is a procedure to import such a gun yourself but you have to apply for a permit and wait and wait.
So several weeks ago I bought a Condor in .177 under the impression that, as they advertise it, I was buying a versatile gun. I want to be able to plink at 500-600 fps with a lot of shot capacity and to hunt at 900-1100 fps and the advertising said it could be done by just turning the power wheel.
I took my new gun to the range with a crony and it gave me averages of 796 fps in number 6, 901 fps in number 7 and 962 fps in number 7.5. I dialed back to 6 and started shooting. In about 10 or so shots the speed went up (no chrony but I could tell by the noise). I was shooting exacts heavy (11 or so grains).
Then I did what I should have done first. I check the forums and from what I have read so far I learned that the Condor is pretty useless in .177 because it goes supersonic. OK
Now my questions:
If I change the barrel to .22 (there is one availeble) will I have a true .22 Condor or is something else different between .117 and .22 besides the barrel?
For my low speed (maybe not 500-600 but 700 or so) I am thinking in the CO2 adapter, any experience with it?
Any advise you can provide will be very much appreciated
I own several spring air guns, Gamos and Dianas but this is my first PCP 🙁

the .177 spring is stronger and the spring retainer is diffrent. so you have to change both the spring and spring retainer to the .22 cal version. Or you can leave it alone and you will just have a lower powered .22
i think the return spring (i think everyone calls it) on the .177 is lighter than on the .22 not 100% on that though

Thanks very much for the reply. When you mention the weaker (or stronger) spring, do you refer to the spring inside the valve in the tank or the spring of the striker? If is the one in the valve Airforce is in default because the extra tanks that they sell do not mention caliber (they sell only one tank for Talon and only one for Condor)
Well anyway I could not resist and went ahead and bought the .22 barrel, put it on and went shooting. Here are the results.
I used JSB Stratons 16 gr cause is the heavier I had.
Power wheel at 4 averaged 1020 fps with a spread of 9
Power whel at 3 averaged 1021 fps with a spread of 10
Power whel at 2 averaged 1022 fps whit a spread of 6
Power whel at 1 averaged 1022 fps whit a spread of 14
So for the time I dialed 2 and plan to have fun using more time shooting than fixing.
Another matter: I have an extra tank that is for Talon. I try that one too but it dumps all the air in the first or 2 or third shoot. Whit the tank empty I noticed that the steem of the valve (where the top hat is screwed) is kind of lose and will move out if I pull. Is this as is suposed to be or something is wrong 🙂
