Q:

My new (old) Remington model 550-1

Given to me by my Aunt today. It was made in 1956, and still looks almost mint.

Haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet, but I am excited. Should be a great squirrel killer, until I get a new .308 8)

Bikin…read the barrell, it should read “.22lr s, l, lr”, short, long, long rifle. I haven’t seen “.22 long” in quite some time. And yes it will hold 25-30 shorts. I guess that we now use our pellet guns for what people used to use the .22 short for. Gotta love technology.

quote RiffRaff:

Awesome rifle.

I bought 2 of them at a pawn shop years ago, and I gave 1 to my Dad. When he passed a few years ago I got it back of course. One of the best shooting .22s IMO. Mine will cycle shorts quite well, which makes the gun somewhat stealthier.

Wow, I did not know that these could shoot shorts. It must hold like 30 of them! That is a lot of squirrels 😛

Shot it at the range today, and this thing is a shooter! We were nailing the 200 yard metal targets every time. Zeroed at 100 yards, it took 15 MOA to get it on target at 200 yards. Rabbits and other small game out to about 250 yards are toast.

I also got to shoot my first “Big” rifle today. It was a very nice Winchester model 70. The recoil was not as bad as I was expecting, but it wasn’t no .22 😛

whats can i say mate lovely bit off rifle .
i like to see stuff like this handed down from generation to generation.u don,t see in enough now aday,s nice mate

Very nice. Trigger guard looks like the older model BSA guns.

DITTO what SteveinLA said. It a great thing to Inherit some family history.

Hi Bikin, it is so cool to inherit a firearm. A piece of family history for you to take care of and pass on some day. Quick, get the Breakfree and wipe it down. It probably wouldn’t hurt to clean the bore also. Congratulations!
