Well I was pretty happy when my Anthony266 24″ .25 barrel arrived the other day, really a beautiful barrel. As it turned out, it wasn’t exactly a ‘drop in’ procedure, as I found out last night. Had a heck of a time getting the bushings to fit in the frame, couldn’t even get the first bushing to slide in more that a 1/4 inch at first. I had to carefully file both of them down to make them fit. This fitting, filing, re-fitting took a while, but got that taken care of. My gun I think a 2005 model, maybe frame ID’s have changed slightly over the years?
So this morning was the sight in test, to see how this new barrel does. I’m waiting on a friend to machine a cap for my frame extender, so I can’t shoot outside. I shot from in the kitchen, thru the bedroom, and out the window to the target box in backyard, about 70 ft. The first thing I noticed was how weird it felt loading the 25’s… after you’re used to the feel of 22’s for years in your fingers, the 25’s just feel like.. crazy big in comparison.
My first groups to be honest, were dissapointing, I attribute this mostly because of my breach not being able to lock properly because I screwed the breach knob down to far, fixed that, and continued. Things were getting better, and did a couple groups that a dime would cover. The gun just feels a bit different shooting in this cal, as in feels pretty damn good! Loud as hell shooting inside with bare barrel..
I picked up a Hi Flo tank from Mac 1 Tim, haven’t even tried that yet, just shooting with the Talon tank for now, but with the Hi Flo this gun will surely turn into a “Beast”, I have no doubt! Just with the Talon tank, the impact is pushing my steel backed target box right off it’s stand!
Anyways, I took some pics of Beastie Boy, with new barrel. Can’t wait to see what this thing can really do at a freinds house who has 3 acres, (with crow and bunny problems) or at the target range. I gotta say, so far, I’m REALLY impressed!!!

Funny thing… I didn’t see the posts about the ridge and found that ridge in the frame myself while measering. The ID of the frame opening is 1.010″ side-to-side. The front bushing at 1.005″ and the rear at 1.004″.
There is not as much slop as I had remembered there being! (a good thing) It wiggles a bit more than 1/8″ side-to-side at the muzzle tip when the barrel grubs are not installed. Some of it possibly barrel flex.
I’ll paint the bushings … and try a new scope. 😉
maybe just right to wrap a single layer of “foil tape” around to take up the space and keep everything nice and centered.

dam nice setup you’ve got going on there, did you get the weight with the high flow as well or do you not need to worry about that with the .25?
I guess what I’m asking is if I got a talon bottle would I ned to remove the weight or just go for it?
Yeah when I got the Hi flo, it came with striker weight, stock butt plate and screw, allen wrench. When going with the Hi Flo, I’ll put the striker weight in it, until I get a hammer from shrpshotr28, which he says will work for both tanks. Apparently, this will enable me to just switch bottles depending on how much power I want without having to go into the gun to remove/add striker weight when switching bottles.

I actually noticed that myself last night when I went to put in the new barrel. I polished the inside of the frame while everything was out, and looked inside. Everything was mirror shiny, and I noticed a ‘line’ of sorts that went the entire length of the tube along the top. Didn’t feel it to see if it was a ridge with a bump, but I definitly saw it.

Just realize there is a ridge on the top of the ID in the main tube. Measure the ID on the sides.

Look at this guy folks! Anthony is obviously stand up guy and willing to take care of his customers.
I thought about putting a good thick coat of paint on the bushings. Pretty easy fix as long as the paint is pretty even. One thing I was going to do and haven’t done yet, is to mic the ID of the frame and OD of the bushings. I just want a clue how far they’re off.
As it is right now the bushings are installed without shimming. POI vs POA is still better than 1 ft off with the scope adjustments maxed to the right, and up. That’s as much playing as I’ve got done. LoL.

Different story with my .25 bushings from AA. They are undersized quite a bit. So much so, that when inserted and without the grubs screwed in, the end of the barrel will move in near 1/4″ circle. I havn’t got around to fixing it yet either so I can’t give you any accuracy experiences.
Damn, I can understand some slight varience in production, but that much? 😯 Maybe a new set of bushings would work, or somehow shim the ones you have now?

Jerry, it’s funny, I was just thinking about your slugs… Thing is, what I have now is complete overkill for my dinky backyard, with just the Talon tank. However, I’ll be shooting other places for sure, to really test this thing out, and I’d love to have your slugs around when that time comes, you’ll be hearing from me soon. Thanks for the reminder! 😉

Yes that may just do the trick… I wrapped one layer of alumunim tape in two spots on my 1″OD frame extender tube, and it was a perfect fit in the ID of frame after that. I think the tape was .005 thick.
