Q:

Pellet Seating Depth

So how sensitive is the gun to pellet seating depth? Is it better for the end of the skirt to be flush with the seal, or should it be pushed in as far as my thumb fat will let me?

It feels like it is better with the seat, saves the side of my thumb from getting sore, which is probably the largest difference I have noticed to date…

I use Beemans pellet seating pen and use the ball end to make the base of the pellet nice and round and seat the pellet flush into the barrel…no more flyers and grouping is more consistent…Allen.

I took the time the other day to use a pell seat, using that fat round end to seat the pellets. I was shooting at 45 yds just to see if it would make any difference. It was quite cumbersome to say the least and took a bit more time. The bottom line is that I did not see any difference in my groups at all. I admit that this was far from being a controlled test but I found out that it was not worth my time and effort. I probably wouldn’t mention this but with all of the fiddling around I managed to get my thumb mashed a good one when the bolt released. My Condor does not have a safety and I must have bumped the trigger (Duh).. OUCH

Seating the pellet will have a big effect on accuracy and velocity. The best I have found is using your thumb and push the pellet skirt until it is flush and forms a tight seal with the barrel.

Mine likes the thumb 😆 Hay that sounded weird 😆 😆
