It’s @#$@# loud!!
My neighbor just bought a used .22 Talon SS. The gun was claimed to be in perfect condition with 25-30 shots through it. After some fiddling around we got her filled up and he took the first shot (@2950psi). CRACK! This @#$@#$ thing is LOUD. We shot it on medium power the whole time and it sounded like a .22LR….it made my 350 mag sound like a fricken’ mouse fart. We had been using JSBs and due to an experiment a few months ago we had some left over Piledrivers. I popped one in and shot. I will never as long as I live do that again without earmuffs. It made a crack so loud that my ears were ringing for at least fifteen minutes.I have shot a .40 S&W without ear protection and it wasn’t this loud, no B.S. Another weird problem this gun has is the bolt will not “click” back and has quite a bit of side to side play. Also, are “bum” shots normal every once in awhile? Occasionally, the gun will fire and the pellet will smack waaaaay below POI and not penetrate very far at all. This happens throughout the shot string (tank was good for 55 shots before POI shift was visible)

Stock they are not very quiet but not as bad as a normal Talon which is very loud.
If you use baffles in your SS frame it will, as Triggerman said, sound like a small staple gun.
Depends on what you do to it. I have one with an 18″ barrel and a Tony’s 6″ baffled shroud that all you hear is the hammer when fired. On a couple of others with a 12″ barrel, I have made my own internal baffles inside the frame and they were about 1/2 the sound of a small air stapler. Standing about 15′ away when they were fired it was just a muffled “pfft” sound, with the hammer being the most pronounced sound.
Then there are hammer slap mods that can be done to muffle that sound and once done, it’s just damned close to inaudible from a few feet away.

can you take a pic of your valve, and the hole thing for that matter. are you sure it’s a talon and not a condor valve? If your feeling air from the breach I would change out them O rings, check the top hat clearance, then take a look in the shroud section to get some Ideas and head off to the local ace.
the only thing you should know about the forum is the fact that most all of us should be locked in padded rooms and like to rass each other 😆 If your not in to the shit talking that is fine with us as well. we can keep it to a min pointed in your direction.

Can do three things.
Change those bolt o-rings. Not an easy change, but as it’s a gun new to you, would probably do a detailed strip down…once you do that, can get the bolt out through the front. Believe that if you can get the threaded ring out of the back, could pass the bolt out that way (but haven’t tried that myself).
Dial it down a bit. With the short barrel, there is a point on the adjuster wehre all you are doing is making more noise. Sounds like it’s going faster, but a chronograph will show where the best setting really is.
Third thing would be to look in this forum for the mods. section…are several ways to get a little more quiet from an SS.
Probably those O-rings on the breech slide that was mentioned above. I think somebody on the For Sale forum a day or two ago was selling 90 durometer O-rings for replacement. Bet that will fix the problem.

P.S Who said I was shooting in a closet? And anyway, he (the neighbor) has been shooting 16grain JSB pedators, which I don’t think will go supersonic…
