Q:

Pump Crud!

I disassembled the fittings from my hand pump today and found a lot of corrosion and even rust in some of the fittings. Without a doubt some of this crap is getting into the tanks of my rifles. Is this normal? I have a dry pack on my pump but, obviously it isn’t working as I thought. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I dont see why you couldnt. When I bought my pump AoA threw in a free extra pac that I havent even used it. Weve only read about moisture here in AZ.

quote Shadoh:

A dry pack can go bad even if its unused and sitting in the corner. It depends on the humidity in the air where you live. Here in Arizona I dont have to worry about this much and they still recommend changing it out at least once a year. Back east where you are swimming half the year I would imagine that you would need to change it twice or even three times a year.

I wish they used the stuff (cant remem the name atm) that you could stick in the oven and bake out the moisture and reuse.

Can’t you buy that and use it instead? That’s what I plan on doing.

In the meantime I keep the unit wrapped tight in a plastic bag.

I hadn’t thought about the humidity here; you are probably right. I’ll change it out and see if things clear up.

Thanks!
