Q:

Fillin’ Station is open for business

Here is my final product for filling my Condors. Remember, this is the $200 CF 88cf bottle I bought.

got to looking a little more closely. What function does the valve nearest the tank serve (the one between the gauge and the gun tank)? With the gauge “behind” the valve, it would read the bulk tank pressure, not the gun tank pressure if used for filling. 😕 or is it there more to meter the fill rate and you use the valve on the bulk tank to turn the fill on and off? the valve between the gauge and bulk tank is obviously a bleeder, I got that but to use the second valve to control filling, it would need to be relocated to be before the gauge.? or just omit the second valve and use the tank on-off valve to regulate the fill.

This is a good observation on the valve after the gauge but I can see a great advantage if the inline needle valve is kept 1/2 or less open to help fill the tank slow and this will help keep your tank for getting too hot during the fill stage. Once you find the sweet spot that valve can stay open or you can shut it if the main SCBA valve leaks by to save air. It’s a really nice way to go IMO.

Exactly, I want to control that charge going into the AF bottle very closely. I leave it barely cracked open and watch my gauge while cracking open the SCBA. It will fill to 3k quickly. I can also charge up the header with the AF needle valve closed. Then close the SCBA valve and then slowly crack the air into it AF bottle. I like options with my valving and like you said, even slowly the bottle was still warm after I was done.

I was going to comment on the welded fittings, but I see you commented already.

Pretty cool stuff!

Heck yes Triggerman, quick fill and right back at it. It surprised me at first how fast it fills from 2k to 3k. Hell I’m still used to the pump taking 20 minutes !

I thought someone would of commented on my custom fittings. I welded the AF bottle fitting to a 1/4″ elbow and the other gauge tee is a custom piece. I am a welder among other things. 7018 rod at 90amps DC-R put a nice weld on it. I tested it with a hydro before filling.

I like it 😀

Oh I left that out. Your fill station is great and you also added needle valves…sweet!!!! 😀

That things got more pipes, valves and guages than New York city’s underground water lines…… 😆 😆 😆

Just kidding ! ! ! Looks like a great setup. Sure is nice to screw on the bottle and go back to shooting literally in seconds huh?

Nice gauge. I use the same ones on the job and they work pretty good just don’t bang it around too much. 😀

Give the bottle pressure gauge a spin 180 degrees and you can read it too. 😛

NICE. Looks good and stable too.

Where’d you find the HUGE liquid filled gauge, I like it.
