Q:

My Son’s HW100T run over by a truck

What to do what to do… After our FT shoot today, one of the shooters ran over my Son’s gun by accident. You should have seen the look in his eyes. The gun will fire but it is all over the place. The gun case was crushed and the Harris by-pod bent up. I felt so sorry for my Son..He had taken 2nd place in the HFT and was all happy and prancing around and then to find out when he returned to the group of shooters that his gun and all of his gear was trashed.. The look in his eyes about broke my heart..

WOW…it’s good to hear it’s not that bad. 😯

A hard lesson learned for sure. Your rule is a sound one and I will make sure I will follow suit. I am guilty of laying my own gun case on the ground far too often and then find cars parked near them.

I don’t think my son will be getting the new S400.. I shot a 34/40 in HFT with it today. I honestly only spent 1 hour or so with the gun after mounting the scope. You know what they Say and that is “Every doggie has it day”.. Today I was that dog.. Nice gun thought but the HW00T .177 not to bad either as the boy shot a 29/40 today. He was doing his best to catch me on the home stretch but ended up taking 2nd with a final knock down at 45 yds.. Here is the gun that I have a lot of work to do on now… Please open the album and take a peak..

Glad to hear it was not as bad as it could have been.

A Rule I was taught and I taught my son , being fly fishermen and using $1000 flyrod and reel set up, is gear never goes on the ground near a car or a pathway, never put it in an open doorway be it in a house or a car. Shit happens and that is a fact.

Time to give the kid the new AA400 😛

We were putting the gear away and the gun, Bi-Pod and case where on the ground in front of the truck. I happened so fast no one really knew how to react. I had walked away to get something else and my buddy got in his truck and started to drive away and that is when he heard something. He got out of his truck and that is when I looked and the case was smashed as well as the bipod and the gun just laying there. We may have lucked out though. I received a phone call and I guess they worked with the adjustable mounts and had the gun is shooting tens again. The stock is marred up pretty good and the barrel and moderator are scratched up. My Son reported that other than looking at the gun everything is Okay. It seems the truck was stopped just in time to keep from any real damage. When I left earlier I had written the gun off for sure. I will look the gun over very well tomorrow and make sure that the only damaged was with the scope to the mounts. I am relieved to say the least. I can repair the stock and get the barrel and moderator reblued. I am being optimistic and hoping for the best. Tomorrow will tell for sure when I get my hands on the gun..
I know now though that Bass Pro Shops best double gun case will crush very easily.. lol

That’s terrible. I know if any of my guns were run over I would cry. A lot. Don’t even know what to offer for advice. You could bend the barrel back, but I don’t know if it would be as good as before.

I’d be willing to be it has traumatized him. He’ll never put a gun down again. He’s going to carry it everywhere.

What did the driver say? Or did he even know he did it?

We didn’t have a camera with us but you can see the imprint of the tire tread on the forestock. There abrasions and scratch marks on the barrel and the gun is shooting all over the place. I had to come home and when I left the fellows and my Son where attempting to sort it out. I am pretty sure the barrel is bent. I will find out just how badly. Getting anything done on a Wiehrauch gun is next to impossible when it comes to the HW100. I have heard a couple of horror stories. Especially if you send the gun back to Germany.

I know its bad… but the rubber necker in me really wants to see a picture of the gun.

quote Triggerman:

How the hell did that happen ? Either a car on the shooting range or a gun on the road ?

Kinda what I was thinking.

Sucks to hear about that gun man. Is it in repairable condition at all?

How the hell did that happen ? Either a car on the shooting range or a gun on the road ?

Ah nuts, real sorry for your boy Dad’. Thats a pretty crappy way to end a good day 🙁
