Q:

A real break through in .177 ammo?

ok you guys know i got my .17hmr.
i pulled a lead bullet from one round and put it in my crosman repeater.
600fps with 8grs isnt much but it managed to fire out the .17 boat tail V-max bullet this is with Co2 imgaine it with HPA?
it was a tight fit in the barrel .

the 17gr could make an awesome round for a .177 SS or condor.
the measurement is .172 -.173 i think.

A break through???

cheers

roger that.
only fired it twice.
was just thinking of maybe a .17hmr barrel blank made to fit a airforce.

Go for it and report back how it pans out.
Need a source for the bullets first I venture.

Now that sounds like a plan. You may want to post in the Mod/machinists section to see what they say. Great guys that can work some metal hang out in there. 😀

exactly lama.
when i get some money i will be experimenting.

I still think that would be cool, a 17hmr barrel for the condor. I mean, a condor could get it moving pretty fast, maybe fast enough to really take advantage of the high BC and ballistic tips.

It would make for one awesome condor. 😀

Be careful, most Airgun rifling will not work very good with copper jacketed bullets. It will wear it out fast due to the very small rifiling channels that airguns have.

If you could get them to shoot worth a darn, and provided they won’t ruin your rifling or get stuck in the barrel… they’d make an exotic alternative to pellets. BC would be much greater on the boattail bullet than a diabalo pellet.

yes but the design is different to a pellet.
have you ever seen one?
it has a polymer tip and is longer with a boattail.

Eun Jins are 16.1 gr in .177, and based upon seeing what they can do in my friends Talon – makes for a nice alternative to medium/light weight .22 ammo.
