Q:

What is hydros testing on scuba tank?

Well I bought a tank new @ local air rifle store but looking for a spare and some of the tanks say it needs hydro. What is this and how much does it cost and how often does this have to be done?

thanks buuuuuuuuuuuddddddddddddyyyyy

Hydrostatics need to be done every 3 or 5 years. The exact date depends on the tanks manufacture date and material construction.

The tank is put in a safety capsule and pressurized with water. It ensures that the cylinder is safe for you to use for the next few years. It usually costs from $20 to $50. On top of the hydro, you’ll need a visual inspection done once a year. Usually about $10. Fills are usually $5-$10.

Make sure you can find a place to do a hydro test. If not, might look into getting one with a hydro already done. Ask me how I know. 😉
