Shooting benches… any advice?
Got the Natchez catalog the other day, and I’m looking at the shooting benches they have for sale.
Lotsa stuff in the $60-$90 range.
“Fold and go” is my goal. I don’t want something that I gotta hex-wrench assemble or tweak ’til Sunday. Just want a stable platform that folds up when I’m done.
I’m eyeballing the Ameristep, but what’s your opinion?

True, I thought about re-purposing a cheapo card table or something similar. I also thought about going the DIY route as well…. but I’m legendary for my finely-tuned habit of turning a simple $20 DIY job into a $200 lesson in over-engineering. 😆
Since these shooting-specific models are going for only $60 or so, I figure it’d be easier to just cut to the chase and pick one of them up.
Just need to figure out which one delivers the most bang for the buck in terms of stability, adjustability and fold-up portablilty.
Hey Photo, does that bench simply fold up or do you have to wrench it to take it down?
Another thing to look at maybe is costco has folding tables for 50.

DIY and make your own. This one folds flat, iis stable and a cut-off bar stool holds my 220 lbs very easily. Link to pic of the bench:

Built mine from 3/4″ ply with a battery powered circular saw and drill/driver. The legs are from Lowe’s/Home Depot. Stainless steel wood screws, walnut stain and polyutrethane finish. The light extensions on the ends of the legs are to raise the bench to a comfortable level for my 6’2″ height. I HATE to crouch over a bench.
Just something to concider.

That table is like a rock python, and when it breaks down it’s light.
That’s a good lookin’ table. I wonder if it would hold my fat self off the ground.
This is the one I have from Sportsman’s guide and it works great for backtard work and it’s portable. It’s a shooters ridge deluxe.
We ended up making our own that mounts on my truck.
