over seas air travel with air guns
Does anyone know the proper way, if there is one, to travel overseas with an air gun? I would like to take mine to europe but am nervous about the possibility of confiscation and/ trouble in general. AirForce guns are pretty scary looking and I wonder if paper work would be enough to convince the security folks of it NOT being a firearm…
AND/OR they make think the air tank is some sort of explosive device!…
Anyone ever deal with something like this?
BTW I want to travel to berlin. 😕

sorry dont know the polish rules for airguns….but it would definatly make your life easier to fly directly or as directly as possible….
germany might be ok with your airgun as long as you can show your going to poland with it (train ticket should be ok)
i tried googling it too…not good hits…might be that poland just doesnt have any regulations in regards to airguns ?
UPDATE: i have asked on the danish forum, they might know theres alot of airgunners thats hunters too and some of them go to poland when they hunt so they might know…ill let yo know what i find out
Hey, Cygnus X, I am actually going through Germany to get to S.W. Poland as my final destination. I do this because it is easier to get trains from there to the city I need rather than from Warsaw You think it would be better to fly straight to Warsaw Poland as they may have higher tolerances? Know anything about that region? I try to find the info online but it is either all in Polish (which I dont speak) or there is nothing to find. … or maybe my net search skills are lacking…

i have taken a bunch of rifles to denmark…check it with your airline if its ok(print website info, or call them) at the airport if you see a guard ask him what to do as your acarrying an airgun (word here is “gun” in his ears)….valve out so they can see into the bottle, you might be hiding ½kg of coke in there…plus they dont want pressurized air on the plane, at least not in your luggage.
i have never been checked in denmark, however my stuff has been delayed on iceland where they wanted to see what a 9mm career was, sucks if you have to drive back to the airport and pick up luggage the day after….denmark has no restrictions YET….but they are working on getting a 10 joule limit, problem is how they hell are they gonna manage that, and the thousands of over the limit rifles that allready excists ?
germany might be different when going through customs, and you might have to display your weapon, and justify that its only 7.5 joules, some countrys actually impound the rifle until a ballistc test has been done…that means they will fill it, and chrony it..possibly go through a shitload of your ammo …i had a career 45cal that the customs hijacked (was a mailed rifle but could happen with airport customs too)…for 4 weeks and they shot 4 tins of 45 ammo through it, and not the cheap roundballs that could have been bought in DK, no they had to go through the expensive pyramidair ammo grrrr,customer was not happy !

I think the limit is 7ft/lbs in Germany.

Sorry to keep bothering you but I have one more question and that will be it. Just came that perhaps my condor (angelina) with the co2 tank would be below the Fpe limits in Germany? Or perhaps not taking any tank and then purchasing a bottle when I arrive might work?

They can not allow any HPA sealed container in an airplane. They have to be able to see all the way to the bottom of the container and that is why the valve has to be removed.

For air travel in general you have to have your valve removed totally from your tank.
And as for taking a high powered airgun into Germany? That is a big No No. Their airguns laws are very strict and your gun would far exceed their velocity/fpe limits

Poland has 17 joule maximum, no caliber restrictions allthough i dont see any fun in a dragon slayer with 17 joules (13 fpe close to the 12 fpe rule that england has)
no hunting permittet without a hunting license
