Did I burst my burst disc???
Awww man…. I think I bursted my burst disc. The weird thing is that I only had my high pressure fill tank file to 3500 because the dive shop had a cooling line break yesterday and were waiting for a new one to come in so they couldn’t fill it all the way as they were just using what air they had.
Problem is, I don’t know what the valve looked like before (so I’m not sure if it looks right or not, but now when I go to fill it air is coming directly out of the hole in the thick part of the neck under the top hat. I’m not sure HOW I could have burst it, but it wasn’t any louder than when a SCUBA regulator isn’t seated right and you turn on your air.
Does anybody have a picture of their valve they could post? I’m going to go to Talon Tunes and see if one of Tony’s valve photos gives me a clue…

Okay it’s in the fill adapter. The tank if fine – false alarm – thanks for all your help
There must be an O-Ring in the adapter that I am missing. I had my dive buddy fill it at the dive shop when I got my large tank filled since it was new and I didn’t want to waste all my air on an initial fill. It must have dissapeared there.
I am assuming that it is a large one and fits on the rim dirctly inside the large lip of the adapter?

I cannot push the top hat down, and it looks identical to the way my CO2 adapter looks – I’m assuming it has air in it – going out to test.
Give the set screw a turn with a wrench. It may be loose
most of the burst disks I have seen are marked 4200 IIRC; so Highly unlikely but possible.
If your fill tank only had 3500 in it, and the burst disk is the problem, I’d call AF if that is the problem and see if they will take care of it for you under warranty.
If you can push the tophat down with your fingers there is no air in it.
That’s what I need to know. I’ll put it on the gun tomorrow and see if there is any air in it.
If the burst disk is gone it’ll spew air from the side of the valve collar. It won’t hold air at all.
Not to sound rude but if your burst disk blew, you’d know it.
You can’t NOT recognize a blown burst disk. There’s usually nothing left but bent metal.
side of the valve collar… I can see down into the hole. Bad sign. I’ll take a picture in the morning. I imagine if it burst it would dump the whole tank? or is it a one way valve that would maintain the air within the tank, but not let additional air in?
Is the air coming out from the side of the valve collar or from under the top hat some were?
