AK on Fire
Check this out…the dude caps off about 500 rounds and melts down an AK-47. Hell it’s on fire when the vid starts and finally the guy says it’s too hot….

Haha. You’re right. Where in the heck did I hear it was originally made in x54r? 😛 Oh well.
What I remember hearing (which I am now figuring out is wrong) was that it was originally x54r, but when the usa went from 30 caliber garands as the main weapon to .223 (downsizing caliber) the soviets decided to follow suit and downsized their main caliber as well.
Again, that’s what I remember hearing…. from somewhere… but yeah, I’m thinking I was wrong. 😉 Thanks for setting me straight.

Lama, please do your research. When AK was designed? When .223 was accepted by the US military? I see no connection here. The AK was NEVER designed for 7.62×54.
Later on it was 7.62×39 SKS and 5.45×39 AK-74. And bunch of varients in between.
The prototype of 7.62×39 was 7.62×41 designed in 1943 by Semin.

When the guns very first came out, they were made in that caliber. Mr. Kalashnikov liked the big caliber for stopping power. The goverment later decided to make it smaller, about the same time the US went to .223. I think the reds saw the us do it, and decided to follow suit. If I remember right, it made Mr. Kalashnikov pretty mad when they did that.
But yeah, I want an original. And like you said BIIIIIIIG $$$$$$

7.62×54 is for Dragunovs and Mosin Nagants
“AK” became a nickname for all Kalashnikov rifles. In reality, true Soviet AK-47s were discontinued in early 1960s, so to get one of those originals, yeah, big $$$. Gotta love Soviet arms.

That is probably a cheap chinese ak copy. No big deal. Now if it was a real soviet ak, yeah, he deserves a shot in at least the kneecap.
I still want an old russian 7.62x54r ak. But they cost a lot. 🙁

Lama don’t forget Finland and Israel. They make the best “modern AK-47s” like Israeli GALIL. That is a Rolls Royce of all AK rifles. And yes, it is expensive.
Also check out AN-94, you may also like it. I don’t think they’ll export those anytime soon.
