Q:

My resurrected basket case TSS

I just got one of my TSS rifles back tonight from being a combination of all these, rebuilt/tuned/customized and put back together to work again.

Several months back I bought a TSS off the yellow forums. The gun was bought and arrived in much worse shape than I could imagine. The cocking knob was stripped out and had been superglued in place, the endcap was home-made, a heavier hammer was home-made, the breech slide was loose and had tape wrapped inside the frame to act as a bushing to keep it from rattling around. The valve had been ported with what would not surprise me if it was not done with an ice pick and hammer….LOL

I was screwed and figured I had a POS just for parts. I struck up a conversation one day from a member here on the forum who had posted about just starting up a gunsmithing business. Our member Jim Ayers, screename “j3magnum” has this website: http://www.ayerguns.net/aboutus.html

We emailed back and forth about my sack full of parts and he seemed confident he could make it go again. Just got it back from him tonight and I can say, he did some major cool magic on this thing. Put everything back together, made or machined what needed replaced and this thing is just off the charts SWEET !!!!

Everything is polished, trigger mod makes a light, clean and smooth break, safety smoothed to a simple touch and it’s off safety, new endcap turned and internal machined baffles reworked for performance and a new oversized, tapped and drilled cocking knob. Could not wait to shoot it so after sighting in, the 5 shot group is at night under an outside guard light @ 30yds leaning over the bed rail of my truck with 21 gr Kodiaks.

I will give Jim an A+ in his quality workmanship and will be sending him another one very soon….. THANKS JIM !!!!
