What to do when your scope runs out of adjustment?

The scope is a Tasco 6x24x50 world class plus.
I mounted it on the rail of my SS and tried to zero it at 50′ indoors yesterday, it shot way low, I brought the shots to where it was 2″ low and the scope ran out of adjustment room..It quit “screwing”
I put my 3/4 inch riser on I made last night, and oddly enough it is still hitting in the exact same spot..I dont have any more adjustment left, I’m using leupold .22 rings. thanks!

Sounds like you have a “cant” issue, not a height issue. Theoretically, you could have 12″ riser mounts and if the front of your scope is canted you will still have a point of impact below your point of aim

Chairgun2 has an excellent utility for this simply called “scope shim” .
Post the following and I will run it through the scope shim utility (if you don’t have chairgun) and post your required shim size;

1. Trajectory drop from point of aim (nearest 16th is sufficient)
2. Exact yardage
3. Center-to-center dimemsion of your scope mounts

NOTE: Make sure your scope is “zeroed” at the center of verticle adjustment prior to shooting for drop to assure the most available adjustment after shimming.

My new leapers 6-16x56swat was hitting 7″ low at 25 yds as centered w/ no elevation adjustments. I measured my drop, range and scope mount centers, input it into the utility. It calc’ed that I needed to shim my rear mount .023″. I sacrificed a .023″ feeler gauge, shot three rounds and I’ll be damn if they didn’t hit within 1/8″ of the point of aim!!!

Chairgun2 still continues to impress the hell out of me and I was so impressed this time that I jumped into AutoCad, diagrammed out my scope cant issue with all of my dimensions and found that I needed a .024″ shim to correct my scope misalignment issue, which my diagram ended up showing was canted by .067 degrees.

This shows that Chairgun2’s scope shim utility programs accuracy is within .095% or when applied to the dimensions we are using here……………about 2/10,000’s of an inch. That’ll work!!!

One cannot make chicken salad from chicken shit..
But I have fixed my gun, I drilled and tapped a 8-36 set screw in the rear of my riser, screwed it to where there was .050 rise in the rear and now the gun is dead on at 50 feet which is as long of a shot I can take here at work indoors..

I’m almost to the point of getting pissed here..and you don’t want me pissed.. 👿 I have called AF and they have called me back at least 4 times wanting to find out more info. There is a nice lady who works there but apparently doesnt know jack about scopes and guns, I’ll ask her a question and then she has to run down someone in the plant to find the answer and then call me back and i’ll ask another and it never ends..Why cant the guy just answer the phone and talk to me instead of all this calling back and forth..Why is my gun the only one with this problemo??ARRRGGGGGG

Apologies if this is taking the topic away from the original question, but is this a common problem with the Leapers scopes? I just tried the same scope and was surpised by how far off it was (maybe 8 inches low). I did not get to the shim stage becasue the elevation turret came off in my hand . . . .
