I would not be able to call you setup unrefined randy, you have one of the nicest out there!
I would say the 410 (from what buddies tell me) as the FX is pricey and the parts issue spooks me.
But further to this I have a Condor in a 12″ .22 ss config, and .22 and .25 barrels and for what I do I just could not go back to only 30 ftlbs of energy after doing a side by side comparison of a .22 or .25 at the over 60 ft lb setup.
I mean hitting a gopher with only 30 ft lbs at the muzzle at 100 yards then hitting them with over 60 ft lbs there is just NO comparsion. I can fling big 32 or 42 grainers and they not only lay down vermin they buck the wind just so much better. Add an LDC and you have it all just below a rimmie but WAY over most airguns.
No thanks I will stay with my easy barrel change, back packable, hushed, buddy bottled Condor.
At least I don’t worry about parts and getting some scratches and nicks while hunting. She maybe unrefined but she is also designed to kill vermin not punch paper.

Cyclones are great, expensive for what they are but great non the less.
I can tell you I like the cyclone because it’s light weight, you can get 2nd or 3rd shot of quick, has tons of power on high, is extremely quiet on low power, it handles like my dad’s old remington pump 22, it’s very reliable, get a lot of shots/fill, trigger is one of the best, holds re-sell value, it hits what ever you aim it at…….
The main draw back is they are expensive, at least when brand new. I got my 1st cyclone for I think $650 or so back in 2002, now the Man wants $1200-1400 depending on trim, that’s too much cash, luckily, if you are patient, you can get a used one for $800-900. Other drawback is styling, you either love it or hate it.
Another vote for the S4**, great rifle for the money and extreemly accurate in the right hands, mines in .177 and drops bunnies out to 55 yards all day long with clean head shots.
The S410 comes into it’s own when out lamping as there is no fiddling about loading your next shot.

410 cant go wrong…perfect right out the box….long medium short lenghts available
SS or condor if you like to tinker and tweak…can be broke down to fit a backpack….can be pickled or shrouded for max stealth without screaming silencer when the gamewarden comes by

I figured the Talon SS and Discovery fans would chime in.
I was hoping the more experienced shooters here would give some pros and cons for each rifle.
You didnt ask for pros and cons of each… you asked for opinions. Even though this is a Talon forum, we are not completely closed minded. We realize that there are other guns out there and that they all have their place. The general consensus is that for a first or only general purpose PCP, that the S4xx reigns supreme.
The pros and cons of each are meaningless without taking into account what one decides to do with the gun. If your purpose for having the gun was to take larger small game at 60-80 yards, then our choice would have reflected that and most folks would have said the Condor. If you’d said you wanted the cheapest entry level PCP to get started and wanted acceptable accuracy and power without perhaps the refinement of a European gun, we would have said a Discovery would be best….
I’ve owned a Condor for 3 years and like it a lot. Very powerful and accurate. I recently converted it to Talon SS specs and like that too.
I haven’t owned any other PCP’s, so I have no knowledge of the others listed.
I like the modular/adaptability of the AirForce design. It can be hotrodded all the heck and do incredible things. Maybe the others can too, I wouldn’t know.
Might have to look into the FX with all the positive input given above…

I am thinking about the Air Arms S410 Sidelever Thumbhole in 22cal. – 10 shot
What do you all think ? Is this the most powerful S410 model ? How does is compare on accuracy to te Condor

I bought an SS as first my first PCP, It is short and sweet, and accurate enough to easily hit beer caps at 50 yards. Looking back one thing I didn’t know was how easy and how many rounds I would be putting through the gun. Face it, even though it is a single shot, with the wide loading port you can load it very fast, too easy. And you get so many shots between fills it makes a great plinking rifle.
The other thing I think I learned through this forum is that if you put a lot of rounds through an air gun, you will need to make repairs, or send it off for repairs.
That is one of the single greatest things about my talon, and this forum. When or if it breaks, I can take it apart and fix it myself.
If I can’t figure it out I can ask on this site and get 5 replies on what to do or how to do it.
I too want the AA S410, as my 2nd gun. I think my shooting skills have improved, and I need a touch more power to reach out further. I have thought about longer barrels, but I’m tired of going shooting with my friends and having to share a gun. A longer barrel won’t change that.
So I researched, and the gun I want for my needs is the AA S410
One thing I don’t like about it is I know as much as I shoot, it will need repairs once and a while, and with my luck it will break on day 2 of a five day squirrel hunting trip 300 miles from home.
Once I break down and spend the $ for the s410 I know I am going to make my self learn to do the repairs on the rifle, and I will have spare parts once I learn what tends to need replacing on the rifle.
Unfortunately I have not been able to find another forum like this one dedicated to the Air Arms Rifles. I have found a few forum sites, but nothing with the talent and support of this great site.

As far as the discovery, I think it is a great rifle, but I know in my heart that my SS will out shoot it out of the box. And I shot one once, liked it, but is slower to load. Some day I will pick one up and cammo it out and make it my trunk gun/ drag along beater gun.
