new hammer for new gun
i just got my 24″ condor and would eventully like to add a .25 caliber barrel, i understand that a heavier hammer may be needed to obtain better power especially with the heavier bullets. i dont mind having to refill more often as i already have several spare tanks on hand. can anyone recommend a good weight hammer to install and how difficult is the project in replacing the old hammer? if you have a link to the procedure being done that would be most helpful. thanks

I would NOT use any Loctite product on the powerwheel screw. The screw is plastic and any added tension will twist it off next attempt at removal.
Gentle finger tight is all that is required of that screw.

Yes, that is the one…..BUT…..be very, very careful with it. It threads into plastic and will strip out very easily….

To be perfectly certain. the little screw is the one located directly on the powerwheel window, is it the one that indicates power from 1-12? should the powerwheel be turned all the up/down when changing out the hammer? also what weight would you guys recommend i start of with. thanks
Changing the hammer is really easy with only a 3/32 allen wrench.
First remove the air tank, then take out the little screw that keeps the power adjuster in line.
Then start removing the 4 grub screws that hold in the barrel. When you start taking out the last one, keep a bit of pressure on the barrel. The hammer spring will start to push the barrel out of the frame a little. Keeping the barrel steady will prevent you from having the grub screw mar the edges of the barrel bushings.
Once all screws are out, pull the barrel out of the frame. Next tilt the frame toward the floor, keep your hand over the end of the frame, and cock the rifle. The hammer, powerwheel and spring should all slide out the end of the frame into your hand.
When you reassemble, just stack the parts on the barrel, and carefully reinsert them into the frame. Put the barrel screws back in and snug them starting with the lower ones, then the side ones.
Put the screw back into the poweradjuster and you are done.

I think if you strip those 4-40 threads out, you should be able to drill and tap a new hole without any trouble. So the power wheel is off by one number, who would really care?
