Q:

700 fps (220 m/s) talon???????

Hy!, my name is Alex, i’m from Romania.First of all our airguns legislation is very stupid.Government has restricted the velocity of legal airguns to 220 m/s(fortunately the energy hasn’t been restricted), that’s around 700 fps, so i wondered if it could be possible to find for sale a talon with another calibre than standard , such as .25 or so in order to decreas the velocity at the legal limit. Please help…Thanks!

ancalxndr,

You can do a lot with 700 FPS! If you consider that 700 FPS is well over double the fastest compound or crossbows in use, you’ll realize that at normal airgun ranges 700 FPS is plenty. I’ve got a .62 that shoots a 545gr slug and it would be legal where you are. At 50 yards that slug will hit on target and break chunks of concrete 3″ thick! Big heavy slugs tend to keep their speed better than the aero stableized pellets most folks shoot so don’t think that your usefull range has gone down as much as the lower initial velocity would make you think.

If you want to stay with the smaller calibers, you’d be served well by a Talon or SS with a .25 barrel and shooting heavy slugs. If noise is not a factor, you might consider a Dragon Slayer .50 they shoot a Hornady .495 ball very accurately and stay below 700 FPS.

trajectory curve sucks, we will need to team up and create a hat with a flip down mill dot aiming system to ensure clean head shots 😉

You need to contact ‘Olympic Tunes’ They will tune up your arm with no end of banned substances. Nice flat trajectory, though you WILL ‘roid rage when u miss..

Hurl bricks instead. According to Chairgun, a standard brick lobbed at 680 fps will give you about 2000 fpe. You’ll get about 10 consistant shots before your arm is fucked and POI is affected. Simply recharge the arm with beer and steroids, and you should be good to go again. Some people here lube their bricks, but i find them too slippery to hold well.

Other alternatives are bottles, bits of wood or the kids toys, though these have unknown BC data.

Hope this helps… 😀

(Yes, i am a bit of an ass, ask the guys here 😉 )

If you need fpe, a talon built to stay within your 700 fps velocity limit would be a good option.

fpe examples:
10.5gr .177 @700fps = 11.4fpe
21. gr .22 @700fps = 22.9fpe
31gr .25 @700fps = 33.7fpe

hope this helps.
