Q:

Dual optic mount

I took a scope mount for a mini 14, cut it into flipped it over and tigged it back together, put a scope ring on the scope upside down, now I have my scope for long range and a red dot for close shots, both zeroed and shooting good!

The red dot mounted in addition to a high powered scope has been popular with the 3-gun crowd on their AR’s for a while.
Most folks use a Doctor or JP red dot because of their compact size.

yes sr. good eye btw 😀

I can recognize that you are at the angeles shooting range in that pic renval. Nice gun!

Nice idea machinist, looks like you got a well equipped shop.

Nice! i had the same set up on my 10/22, the Red dot was set up from 5 to 15 yards, for those close range shots 😀

Who knows maybe when the heli arc hit it, it drew down to the correct angle?? 😆 😆 I doubt it though since nothing like that ever happens to me..

Good info thanks for sharing. I’d have thought being that high above the barrel the sight would have ran out of adjustment long before getting on POI for such close up shots.

I only had about 15 minutes this evening to make it, and I didnt have to droop it any everything is flat as a pancake..I clamped it in the mill vise, lined my scope up on my bandsaw warning sticker and then adjusted the dot to the sticker, I shot it indoors at 30′ and it was only off 1/2 to the right..a few clicks and its dead center..I made it to the car wash with about 10 minutes of light left, there was only 1 pigeon there, I dotted him and let the air out of him with a crossman wadcutter.. 😉

How much “droop” did you have to put into the red dot mount to have enough adjustment? I’m curious, the job came out well. good one.

Nothing wrong with that and it looks kinda cool too!!!! Curious if you have shot with it and can tell what kind of +/- trajectory your pellet gives from where you have it zero’d ?

Im thinkin you need a scope level for that height huh
