I was waiting for a reply like that. I know it can be done. And i’ve seen the results of it. If you drill into the barrel at, say, a 45 degree angle toward the muzzle it will not strip lead. Now having said that I can’t comment on what is does to accuracy, but this gun is used for up close stuff. Yes you will lose velocity. BUT this is a good thing when your using standard ammo and want it to become subsonic and can’t have over penetration.

revolution, there are many ideas and designs to get you started in the shroud section, just start playing around with them and find something that works good your you.

OK, I’ll ask the stupid question, Why?

The only reason would be the difficulty of cleaning up the holes.
It is done professionally on powderburners called Magnaporting.
They use laser IIRC and so no burrs raised.
So if one could clean up the machining then holes in the barrel are not a problem.
Walter….

There are many reasons, but the main one I can think of is the pellet will run over the hole at high speed, and gets led stripped off of it. Most likely spitting led fragment out the side of your barrel. And all the air that is suppose to propel the pellet forward, will now be going out the side of your barrel.

I wonder if there is a way to drill tiny holes in the gooves and not hit the lands? Of course you’d be giving up velocity.

PLEASE Don’t drill a hole in your barrel.

AHHH! Don’t drill holes in your barrel!

Maybe this will give you some ideas on how to go about it. you will be surpriced just how much noise it cuts.
