Here is a test I did with the Raptors about 2 years ago to get a feel of energy transfer. Nothing scientific…but revealing.

*********

Did a little testing today on knockdown power at range. For this test, I chose my AAS400C. It’s a 12fpe gun and laser accurate. I chose this gun over a springer because precision was needed for my test and I didn’t want any recoil so I could see precisely where I was hitting the spinner.

I put out the spinner target at 25 yards. The spinner has 2 paddles that are 3 inches and one paddle that is 1 1/2 inch in diameter. My goal was to test different pellets by hitting as close to the center of the middle paddle and see how many times it would spin.

I took 5 shots with each pellet, unless I made a bad shot (Raptors were a bit difficult to hit dead center) and counted the spins. Here are the results.

JSB Express…. Almost 3 complete turns
Gamo Rocket…. 3 full turns
CPL ……….. Almost 3 turns
CPH………… 4 full turns
Gamo Raptors… 1/2 turn
edit…….forgot about Predators……. 3 full turns ….end edit.
I tried several more times with the Raptors to see if I could at least get a full turn, but never could get more than 1/2 turn.

Rob you’re are funny, and I’ll pas on these, simply because they are way light and if you say they are inaccurate thats enough for me, besides the price is very high.

I can second that, I bought a gamo big cat and those things are horrible as far as accuracy goes, better off throwing them at the target.

Peace,

I shot some of those once and was not impressed at all, and that was in the springer they were made for.

Besides, who wants to use a pellet that comes in a ‘tin’ in the shape of a butt plug?

NO WAY MAN. I tried that crap in my .177’s and the best I could get them to group was at 10 and 15 yards. They also post low FPE but they are hard as hell and penetrate things pretty good. The .22 one’s may work better? but they are just not for me.

Ditto that…. the Raptors suck. Besides, who wants to use a pellet that comes in a ‘tin’ in the shape of a butt plug?
