WTB AR-15. What kind?
I want to admit, I am a bit ignorant when it comes to ARs. What would be a great, reliable, all-weather AR in .223? I know that Les Baer makes one of the best…Any other brands on your mind?
Thanks!

I’ve got a CMMG lower. The CMMG has teflon treated surface to make it slightly glossier. Not so much to make it shine but enough to make it not look like spray paint. I’d recommend the CMMG brand lower.
For uppers, I’ve got a DPMS .22 LR. I dunno if they sell them anymore but they seem to shoot 1.5″ moa at 100 yards with CCI standard. I’ve got a rainier arms built upper as well. It has a shilen ultra match barrel in 5.56. Very nice. You can shoot 2.23 out a 5.56 barrel but not the other way around. Also have an LWRC M6A2 gas piston driven in 6.8mm Remington SPC caliber. The gas piston makes it such that the hot gasses dont get redirected back into the chamber and increases lifespan and minimizes heat. It also makes it possible to put the gun underwater or in sand and still function. They come in 5.56 caliber as well.

I have a rock river arms and a colt preban sporter 2, If your buying a weapon to shoot, the rock river is the way to go. You can also build on cheaper than you can buy one in most cases, try del-ton.com for starters and you may need a permit to purchase a rifle or lower reciver in some states.
The ‘s on the Colt’s is what got me..thanks!
shrpshotr28 is correct. It reads:
COLT’s MFG. Co. INC.
HARTFORD, CONN
______USA______
I beleive it reads “Colts Mfg Co Inc”
Lou, what is stamped right above the trigger? Looks like too many letters to say colt..??

A buddy of mine just bought a sabre..I had never heard of it but its made in nashville tn a hour away from me..I went to their website and it is pretty impressive..apparently the vast majority of their guns go to the military..it appears to be a real fine weapon..
I have 308s, but no .223s. Will not scope it. Want it with good iron sights configuration. Don’t mind to spend a bit extra for the quality. Trying to stack up on ammo before prices go up…or something even worse than that. If “they” ever ban assault rifles, and one day it will happen, AKs and ARs would be the first two on the list.
Bushmaster or DPMS are safe bets.
But if you’re on the market, take a minute to consider the Armalite AR-10.

Why mess with .223 when you can sling .308? 😉
This one runs about $1500, without the scope. Only a couple hundred bux away from what the BMs and DPMS’s go for.

I have one as well and hightly recommend it as now it has the backing of Remington. If there was another one, it would be DPMS. I have the LR308 and it is the most accurate semi I have ever shot.
Either way you go, I know you will be happy.

I just bought this DPMS last week, only fired 20 shots so far..its pretty sweet.
