Solidworks Help
After the recommendations of some members I got Solidworks 2009 (X64 edition). Installed it on my 64bit Vista Home Premium system and all seemed to be going well.
I was following the “30 Minute Lesson” tutorial and all was going well until I tried to select the “Hole Wizard”. I got “Error Could not find the Standards database ‘C:\Solidworks Data\lang\english\swbrowser.mdb’ ” message.
I went to that location and there is no C:\Solidworks Data folder. I did a search on my computer and found the swbrowser.mdb file in the “C:\progra~1\solidw~1\Toolbox\data utilities\lang\English” folder. I created C:\Solidworks Data and tried copying those files to it, no luck. I tried going to tools / options / Hole Wizard/Toolbox and changing the folder location – still no luck.
Anyone have any suggestions? I did a google seatch and all the answers are talking about networked installations and mine isnt.

The external cosmetic thread tool leaves alot to the imagination lol ( which took me ages to find ) , but i guess you want a full forumed thread ! , surprised SW cant do that. Now trying to get the parts to move ….frazzel time …hehe !

Great silencer! I’ve designed some, trying to get the COSMOSFlowXpress to work so I can analise the best designs before building it… But it’s going to be a hard work.
Also SW doesn’t have any feature do make male threads on “shafts”, in my opinion that’s very important for us. A friend told me to use Inventor to make those parts and try to convert it to SW file format, maybe I will.

I fixed the issue – I tried re installing the software and that didnt work so I installed it to another computer and than copied the solidworks data folder so I just copied it to my main PC and it works fine.

What about making the opposite threads and doing a subtract?
Make a female thread, put a solid shaft inside and subtract the threads from the shaft. Most 3d programs call it a Boolean Subtraction, don’t know what SW calls it…
I am surprised such a common thing isn’t available… 😕
