Talon upgrade
I was considering buying a Talon, Id prefer the Condor, But I dont know if I have the Jing for the Condor, so what is nessaray to upgrrade to a condor from a talon, and is it easy or do I have to sent it to a Airgunsmith?

And I agree with you to Cygnus, for just grunt power you’d probably want to go with the hi flo, but if I had to pick only one to use, it would be the Talon tank, it does seem to be more consistant, and you get more shots, (nice plus) plenty of power for all around shooting, and as you said you can always just add longer barrels if needed.
my choice would be a SS and if more power needed a longer barrel
imho the SS valve is just better than the condor valve, its more consistent, and easier to tweak.
stock the ss is 26 fpe if thats not enough a 24″ barrel will take it to 40 fpe even more with heavy pellets
40-45 fpe is perfect for a bunch of pellets
want more power bore out the stem and stuff a lighter return spring in there which would take it to 32+ fpe in a 12″ barrel, to about 55-60 fpe with a 24″ barrel, 24″ .25 barrel would do about 60-65 fpe all on a slightly modded SS valve(can be done with a hand drill, and a box of replacement springs from lowes for 4$….)
of course a condor valve would be able to take you even higher but hunting small game 50 fpe or so will take you out to about 100 yards so ss valve will be just fine

Yes I tend to agree, the Hi Flo really works well with the heavier larger .25, no doubt. .22 is one thing, but never really understood the reasoning behind wanting a Condor in .177. Just seems kinda like a miss-match to me, been wondering if you can even keep them sub-sonic at any power level.
I’ve found a good strong shorter combo is SS with Hi Flo bottle and 18″ barrel. High 900’s low 1000 fps in my gun, Kodiaks. Just about right. (.22)
While a Condor is OK in .22 with the High Flow tank it is actually much better suited in .25
I personally would be happy with a 24″ barrel and a standard tank, with the valve tuned by anthony266 if you can not do it yourself.
I bet that you will more than happy with the 24″ barrel and the talon tank instead of the high flow tank

Buy what you want seems good advice. If you want a Condor, buy a Condor.
If however you want to shoot at low power, best stop and consider. The Condor just doesn’t turn down well (I suspect because of the heavier hammer and spring?). You can swap out the tank and valve of course, but even the micro flow doesn’t seem too adjust well.
You can also buy your Condor from Mac 1, where it comes with the standard tank.
Anyway, my adivce is unless you want to shoot full blast all the time (Condor style if you will), you might be better off with a long barreled SS or Talon, perhaps with the high flow tank. Nealy as powerful as a standard Condor, but much more useful in the normal (say 20 to 30 fpe) ranges.

Common hand tools are all that are required. If you are thinking about a Condor, buy it as a Condor and save yourself the cost of the upgrade later! It is only about $100 upgrade when bought new, but a +$300 upgrade (using factory barrel and bottle) after the fact. The condor frame is larger than the talon as well. The Condor and Talon SS frames are one in the same.
Guys do however put Condor bottles and hammers on their Talons and gain big increases in FPS, but they have more money into them than just buying a Condor in the first place.
If you already have an AF gun, it makes $ense to convert it. If you are buying new, it doe$n’t.

I agree with Cygnus X. Mine right now is still a stock Talon SS and I love every aspect of it. Later on when I want to upgrade, I’ll buy a longer barrel for it, but for now, it’s doing it’s job nicely for me and it doesn’t fail me for the distance it’s set at.
