Laser adjustment question
I just bought this and mounted it to my gun, The instructions says that there are 2 adjustment screws under the cover, when I take the cover off there are actually 3 screws, any idea what the 3rd screw is for? I have turned all 3 of them and none will get the dot lined up with my crosshairs. I can get close about 1 inch at 40 feet but that’s when the adjustment runs out.. thanks!

ahh, gotcha. I tought you meant literally getting paralax with a laser, and since i know this is not possible, thats why i asked. π
You know, about a month ago i bought a new condor from a friend (condor with a talon tank actually), and i actually prefeer mounting my laser under the barrel instead of over it. Why? well, i use the laser for (and ONLY for), short range aiming, wich for me is about 10 to 20 meters tops (over 20 meters i use the scope), so i keep it zeroed at exactly 15 meters, this way i know that as long as my target is inside this range (10 to 20m) my POI will allways be within about an inch max. high or low of my point of aim.
And so, since i never use it over 20 meters, even if i mounted it over the barrel, i wouldnt be able to take advantage of a second point of aim anyway (not enough distance to allow for pellet to drop to the second POI).
And besides, i think the gun looks cooler with the laser under the barrel.

Benzin, parallax error is technically speaking, the difference in sight picture introduced by movement of the shooter’s position relative to the scope. Any scope can only be free of parallax error by doing one of two things: by fixing the eye behind it so that it cannot move (not practical); or by designing and arranging the optics to cancel any error introduced by movement of the eye. But this can be done for ONLY a specific distance for any one setting in any scopel. So, it isn’t possible to have a laser produce parallax error because it has no optics. But I use the term in general terms to encompass all sighting errors introduced by movement of not only the shooter’s eye, but by moving the plane of impact. This would more correctly be termed trajectory, but that term simply refers to the parabolic path the bullet takes, plus any drag considerations. As you know, the trajectory only interects the line of sight once if the sight is mounted under the barrel. It will intersect the line of sight twice if the sight is mounted over the barrel. Where the trajectory meets the line of sight, whether by optic or by laser designator, interests us as markmen; so I lump all these introduced errors due to sighting misalignment together, as ‘parallax’ errors for convenience’s sake.
A note on laser mounting: I have a couple IR lasers on different rifles for hunting at night using a NV scope (PVS-14a). The parallax error introduced is tremendous when using under barrel mounting, so I always recommend mounting over the barrel. Even right in front of the scope, you’d be surprised that it doesn’t really occlude or interfere very much with your daytime optics. I tend to mount my lasers at a very slight offset to the side… the daysight is right in the middle, centered over the barrel; and I put my laser just in front of the scope, but canted just to the left so it only partially occludes the scope view. That way, it is very close to the bore line both vertically and horizontally. The error in parallax is negligible and I don’t even think about it when night firing, just place the dot and fire. Lots of dead pigs can’t be wrong, all headshot.

Jeez, Machinist. Don’t give up so quick. Next time, on a piece of shit I think you pinch the 2nd nugget for left right correction and rub the top for up and down correction. If you take the shit in both hands, work it thoroughly between your fingers. Sniff it and if you still aren’t too sure if its functioning correctly, give it a quick taste. Lemme know how it works out. After you get back from the hospital.

Machinist, the lasers are all made in china or taiwan. I bought 3 or 4 when they first came out with the IR model. Even paying near $300 each, they still don’t adjust worth a damn. I finally tore mine apart to see what was inside. What I found inside mine was a brass plate and the laser is mounted in the middle of the plate facing upwards. One corner of the plate has a spring under it trying to flip it over. The 2 adjustments screws just put pressure on 2 other corners of the plate at roughly 90 degrees to each other. But, in real life whenever I move one screw, the dot ALWAYS moves on the other axis as well, there is no true X vs Y isolation on these cheap adjusters. To make matters worse, the laser module was set into the middle of the plate inside a rubber sleeve, so it wouldn’t hold zero. I tore out the module and machined a solid aluminum collar and press fit it onto the module and then pressed that assembly into the plate so it will not move. Now it holds zero. Adjustment is still sucky, though. For yours, you may want to just shim the mount; cut a small shim out of a soda can and put it under one foot of your mount and see if the dot moves in the proper direction. If not, change the location of the shim. Then you can use your adjusters and hopefully not run out of adjustment before hitting correct zero.

greens use more power then reds, so I assume they are brighter.
I just found this company selling this baby on Ebay, so I went and bought it:
A GREEN laser, with all the bells and whistles for $79 + S/H. Others were more $, others were less. This one seemed to be a good middle of the road pricepoint.
To tell the truth, this “allen screw” thread that you guys started was what tipped me over to buy it… π
I’ve been staring at the BSA laser in the store, but it seemed kinda shaky-jake, even for only $30… I couldn’t talk myself into buying it.
I like the fact that this one has got proper W/E adj. screws, so no allen wrench. The mount looks sturdy, it’s aluminum, not plastic. Plus, the laser is green…. so that’s a bonus too.
But the proof will be in the pudding. FWIW, I ordered on Sunday, they shipped on Monday with full communication and tracking, so they seem like they’re on the ball.
I’ll post up when it gets here and I’ve got a chance to fiddle with it a bit.
I called bsa (Big Stupid Asses) in Miami and the hateful bitch that I got didnt know her ass from a hole in the ground πΏ , I told her only 1 of the 3 screws worked, there are only 2 adjustments sir, windage and elevation..Well mine has 3 im holding it now, well they only have 2 I’m holding one also… I tell her, so you unscrew the front cap and..NO SIR.. you cant unscrew the cap, it has an adjustment on the top and the side..WTF?? I give her the part number and the name of it again..yes I’m holding it now..well come to find out after 5 minutes of bullshit the dumb bitch has a red dot scope in her hands..and probably a coke bottle up her ass… πΏ man I was fired up..I finally told her to let me talk with someone who knew what they were doing..(my exact words..) A very nice lady came on the line and told me she would call me back in 15 minutes..2 days later I sent the piece of shit back..on the 4th day I finally get a call from Gamo in Missouri to help me with the laser..sorry pal, I dont have it anymore..but thanks for the call.. πΏ
I think the 3rd screw might be a set screw; the purpose being once you adjust the sighting you can “lock in” your setting. If two of the screws are at a 90 degree angle from each other, those are your adjustment screws. The third “odd one out” should be the set screw.
I bore sighted my laser but i put it under the rifle which was fairly easy for me to do. Its only a red laser which kind of sucks, i would like a green one as ive heard they are easier to see in the daylight. Its pretty much set for no drop, so depending on air source you figure out your max distance. π
I had a 3 way adj. one of those cheap ones though and shit I spent 7 hours trying to set the damn thing, you might want to send it back and get one with only 2 adjs.

I plan to add a green laser one day. Why would you not mount it to the frame above the barrel? It seems to me if you had it mounted this way it would be better for close up “point and shoot” type work? I think the closer to the barrel AND the sights (whether open or scope) would be better?
