Ultimate Condor Package??
So I’m looking into adding a PCP to my arsenal, and though I kinda had my eye on the Talon SS for a while, that Ulitimate Condor Package from pyramyd air just looks like way to good of a deal to pass up. What do you guys think, overkill?? Good buy for the money?? My big question is if that is a standard talon tank that’s extra with it?? Thanks for helping a newb with some insight

You hit it on the head! That’s one of those “why didn’t I say that” sentences.
You could buy a Talon SS and a Condor, that way you wouldn’t have to swap out barrels, plus you can use any extra scopes you have lying around.
What about one of those pigmy tanks? I’d think pretty hard before I dumped $1500.00. I think you could buy a T.T. rig for that???
Oh I don’t disagree that it’s addon overload, I probably would never touch the sights or thumb hole rail deal. But even without that junk in there you’re looking at almost 2 grand worth of stuff, I tried to do my ideal package for a talon ss ( which is what I really want ) and was $300 more with less stuff lol. I guess I’m just a sucker for a deal lol. Oh and I have to have a pump as I back pack and take my gun with so a scuba tank is outta the question.
I see a couple of problems. Switching back and forth between long barrel and short barrel, and hi-flo tank and standard tank, the POI will change and you’ll have to re-zero. Also, I don’t like swapping barrels as it not as easy as it sounds, and you are likely to strip out the threads if you do it too much. I don’t know why you would want open sites AND a scope, do you want to swap those out also? I happen to have a scuba tank and wouldn’t need the hand-pump. I would go into ‘stuff-over-load’ if I had that whole package, I wouldn’t know what to do 😕 .
BTW: I hate hand-pumps. 😡
That’s a lot of money, and it’s an effort by PA to package more stuff than you would probably use. I don’t like the 24″ barrel I have, because of noise, I prefer a quieter shooting experience, and I do use the CO2 valve that came with my talon ss quite a bit. Don’t get me wrong, the 24″ barrel gives big power and extends the usable range, but it’s 22 LR noisy.
Get the laser, it’s great for a close-in zero, at least that’s what I do. The scope is zeroed at 30 yards, and the laser is set for 10 yards.
I can see how a pcp would be addicitve, cock and shoot, hell I’m addicited to my pumper and thats alot of work lol. Thanks for all the great advice everyone.
It is a really versatile package, with lots of options and setup possibilities right out of the box. A good way to “get acquainted” without having to order additional parts and accessories.
If you go for it, you can spend a couple months shooting different setups and changing things around, until you find your favorite setup; then you can always sell off any of the accessories you do not use to recover some of the investment or finance other accessories or upgrades.
WARNING: ADDICTIVE. Many tasks around the house will be neglected to allow more shooting time.
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
happy shooting.
A shooting buddy bought this package (nearly so, it came with the micro flow tank, not the standard one). As others have pointed out, the thumbhole rail thingie, fixed sights and pump have never been used. I’m not sure about the laser. But you sure can’t say that about the rest of it. He shoots it at least once a week.
As others have said, it does seem hampered by the heavy hammer and spring. It doesn’t ‘turn down’ well. He loves to run it wide open with Kodiaks, but probably shoots it more with the micro flow tank that came with it. IIRC he’s getting 20 fpe shots with the 24 inch barrel. Again the ‘power wheel’ doesn’t seem to do much for him (like when I try my Talon SS on CO2….). Basically one hole groups at 25 yards, pretty cool.
He paid about that much last year at the NRA convention IIRC, and while you could argue there’s stuff he’s never used (yet…), he doesn’t seem to mind. In fact he’s very happy he ‘took the plunge’ this way (or so he says). He has, of course, upgraded some with a shroud for the longer barrel (which he also won’t stop talking about…) but that’s part of the fun.
If it interests you, I too say go for it. You won’t go too far wrong, and you really want to be on board…..

My pump still works, af, 10mos. spent about that much anyway, I got two guns out of it, and the thumb-bar just a nuisance, Airforce scope cost too much, 1500.00 bucks is alot of money to spend on an airgun, I got just gun, then pump, then barrel, and couple shrouds, plus I shot on co2 in the beginning so I got 4 tanks for that, I figure you can pretty much say money doesn’t count after you buy one, so do as you please, you are going to want to spend more somewhere down the road again.
Mine works out just fine as stock ,945-900, 20 shots, eun jins 42gr.
Yes !! 😀 Been telling him to post to that effect here! He’s sold a few through his friendly gunshop, but thats a pretty resticted market…
I would imaging that Blod is pretty flat-out, so Lang’ could fill in that market void.. Its a good valve too!! I use a Blod and a Lang, both are very good, give consistant shots and are frugal on air 😀
Langa sells valves?
Looked good until i saw the AF hand pump in the deal… Won’t last five minutes.
Buy a good basic package, then up[grade as you want, missing out pos like the AF pump, the acc’ bar (useless!) the scope.
Dont spend 1500 bucks on alot of average add on stuff. Buy the gun, then spend what is left over on a few well considered mods that can be readily supplied from the guys on this forum. Blodnob and Langnasen build high powered valves, Anthony266(TalonTunes) and Shrpshooter do great shrouds, breeches, hammers etc. Everything you would want to add to your rifle is avalible right here with great advice as well.
IMHO of course.. 😀 😀
I think I read somewhere that you have to change the hammer weight for a talon tank to do any good on a condor. Is that true?? Cause that package comes with a 12″ barrenl and ss endcap and talon tank which is a major appeal if I get two guns in one with it

I picked up my hotrod talon on the yellow forum, found two fiber scba tanks on ebey, bought a fill setup from joe brancato, and i’m just over a grand into the entire package, and it is way cooler than i could buy it new, and no pumping. 😀 I’m cheap, love a good used product over a new one anytime, if it saves me a bunch of cash. If i was gonna drop 1500 on an airgun, i would look for a used daystate, or rapid. If i bought new,I would buy a talon ss, (same frame as a condor)start there and see how you would prefer to upgrade, the aftermarket parts available blow the AF stuff away. The bipod is a POS. Your dollars spent will add up to a much nicer end product. Theres my two cents.
