go to your local bike shop and buy some replacement foam handle grips. drill out a few holes (32 in my case) and then slide it down the barrel. use some electrical tape to pad out the barrel if the fitting is too lose.

dont drill through the grips as you would not want to scratch the barrel….

did have a think about that but what was in the shop was too narrow for my scope so went this way instead.

Have you seen the pipe insulation at lowes/home depot? Cut to fit over your scope.
