13 inch .25 caliber and 51.8 FPE …
My latest project rifle has been a compact .25 caliber built on a Standard Talon frame. I cut and crowned the barrel to 13 inches and installed a short shroud that extends just 4 inches beyond the frame.
With a Condor bottle and a 75 gram hammer the chrono showed 51.8 fpe with Kodiaks ! I am super happy with that. The shroud has delrin guts but it’s not as quiet as I would’ve liked so I have some more work to do there.
I haven’t decided on a scope yet but am leaning toward the Leupold 3-9×33 EFR with it’s super clear optics weighing in at just 11 ounces.
With the standard frame and short shroud this compact blaster measure just 33 inches long with the WOK butt installed … and that’s the same length as a Talon SS from the factory.
This little rifle will be a pleasure to carry in the squirrel woods 😀

I followed that link to Midway for the rest and that is kind of high priced. I paid $ 164.00 for mine back in July … I would look around for a better price than what Midway is selling it for.
I bought my rest at a gunshop … not online. I use it for long range testing, chrono work, and finding which pellets work best in each of my PCP’s. After having owned it for about 6 months I think I would be lost without it … no more sandbags or unsteady shooting positions for me 😀
It’s great when running strings of shots across the chronograph because the gun is level and at the exact same distance from the chrono for each shot … this makes the results much more uniform.
My .25 caliber Kodiaks weigh an average of 30.85 grains and I am getting an average velocity of 869 fps for 25 shots … hence 51.8 FPE.
The rest is very well built and will last me a lifetime … it’s a good buy I think 😀

31 grain Kodiaks … not 21 grainers.
1054 fps. You can do it in chairgun.
Running that on chairgun, you need 1051 fps to get 51.8 fpe with 21.1 gr Kodiaks
How do I convert the 51.8 Fpe and 21.1 Gr. Kodiaks into Fps. ? Do you have a link to that caldwell?

The Caldwell is GREAT … especially when using the chronograph you can keep your rifle leveled and at the same distance from the chrono for reliable readings.
