Q:

Is something wrong? 450fps w/CO2 177 12" barrel

Is something wrong? 450fps w/CO2 177 12″ barrel, CPH’s. I have the power wheel cranked up to 10+. It’s accurate, and quiet, but I want 600fps for general use including squirrel killing.

If that’s all it will do, I could get a regulated HPA tank, what pressure gives what velocity? Real world data please.

Don’t want to spring for a micro tank. Maybe I should just use the regular tank which cranks out 780 fps in CPHs

at a 75 degree indoor temp-in.177 12″ SS does 560-618 with cp lights and superdomes ….pw at 0

Should have two set screws on that top hat…if it slipped down to that low setting, and you really did “pull” it back up, think you might take a look at those set screws.

Can pretty well plan of about 2fps gain in vel. for each degree of temperature change from about 55F to about 90F….so come summer, would be looking at about 50fps faster speeds.

What’s the measurement on the tophat?

It was the top hat. I pulled it out to just less than 3/32″, about, which was what my air tank top is at. Power jumped to 580fps which is just fine for 10.5gr CPH’s. The 16 OZ CO2 tank was getting low too.

Top hat was in less than 1/16″ before.

What are you getting with the lighter pellets?

What were you getting with your .22 barrel at the same temperature?

Jay,

I bought my gun with CO2 and I got an air tank 2 weeks later.

If you are shooting indoors at 68 degrees after the first couple shots everything has cooled off even more as the liquid CO2 expands. Then it is like you are shooting CO2 at 55 degrees.

I really believe CO2 is only decent when it is 80 degrees plus.

22 cal was around the same, I think, but I don’t set up the chrony often.

I suppose 450 is fine at 10 yards. I’ll probably just use air.

Don’t know, I need to buy a micrometer.

Turn the power wheel down to 3 and work you way up. Beleive it or not a setting of 10 can sometimes decrease your velocity .

Also what is the temp there 😀
