Q:

Bushing sides set screws protruding with 24" barrel Tal

I just installed a 24″ barrel on my Talon SS and I guess because the barrel OD is greater than the 12″ the set screws on the side are now a little too long.

They are definitely contacting the barrel.

Has anybody else seen this?

Are those side screws in a condor shorter?

I don’t have the detailed info handy (somewhere I have a list of screw lengths and positons for each barrel), but the above post is what Airforce does. The 12″ barrel needs longer screws than the 18″ or 24″ barrel as the latter barrels are bigger in diameter. Airforce includes the right length screws with the barrel purchase. I believe the bottom screws are longer. The side screws are flush when you get the right ones.

This just in: I stumbled across the barrel screw info when I was downstairs playing with a scope:

The barrel screws for the 12″ barrel are: 2 ea of 7/16 x 10/32 cup point set screws and 2 ea of 3/8 x 10/32 cup point set screws. 18″ and 24″ barrel are: 2 ea of 5/16 x 10/32 cup point set screws and 2 ea of 3/8 x 10/32 cup point set screws.

Same thing here . When I installed my 24″ .22 cal barrel I noticed the side screws sticking out further . At first I thought I screwed something up so I removed the barrel and reinstalled it again . Appears to be normal on my gun as well .

Mine is the same way, swapped out the 18 barrel for the 12 I am chucking mine up in freinds lathe were making mine and ill just use shorter setscrews.

Thats a nice and simple solution, I went and made a custom stock and covered them up (I did leave a hole for changing the barrels though…).

I’ve noticed the same, also older barrels w/ delrin bushings use VERY short screws and do not have the countersinks in the bushings for the screws.

Easy fix though, they are a common 10-32 thread, and several different lengths should be available at your local hardware store for minimal cost. If the protrusion bothers you, just pick up a couple shorter screws. should cost less than a buck.

Yep, I noticed it when I switched to the 18″ from the 12″….

Glad i’m not the only one to have this happen… 😉
