Dream Hunter (Condor and/or Talon)

I am new here as well but have learned from talking to many that accuracy will suffer once you go over a certain ft/s (feet per second). I’ve heard you can shoot a .22 caliber accurately up to maybe 1050 ft/s and a .25 shoots best below 1000. I hope others chime in and confirm this or correct me because I don’t really know. This is just what I’ve been told. I’m mentioning this because you said the most powerful and the quietest but you forgot to mention the most important feature which is accuracy. Unfortunately, I have learned that I cannot have it all and instead I am now in search of a dream Airforce airgun that has the best balance of accuracy, power, quietness, consistency, and efficiency. I guess it all depends on what you’ll be using it for most. The barrel length is also another decision. It’s tempting and easy to say I want a 24″ barrel because this will give me the most power but you may not need a 24″ to reach the best speed while maintaining great accuracy. This will depend on the valve you choose in combo with the barrel caliber and length. If the length of a Tony shrouded 24″ barrel doesn’t bother you, go for it. If length is another concern for you, I would think of shorter barrels. Another thing to think about is; what is more important to you, the most power or the most shots per fill? If a high number of good shots is important to you, go with a standard tank. Based on what you want, this is what I would get. I wanted the same thing as you and Tony recommended I get:

– 21″ barrel in .25 caliber with a 10″ shroud
– standard tank (power modded)
– 90 gram hammer
– vented front bushing
– tune

I would also get a Wokbutt from Adam and have Tony do some trigger work to improve on the stock trigger. I have also heard that the Condor body is a little stiffer due to the longer railing on top. I also hear that adding the tri-rail will stiffen up the frame even more so you may want to start with a Condor body/frame. Talk to Tony about what you want and he may recommend a different setup for you based on your priorities. If you are a complete accuracy nut, the .22 cal is probably your best bet for a powerful but very accurate airgun. I wanted more punch for hunting and less drop in long distance shots so I will be getting the .25 caliber. Even though accuracy may suffer a bit, I hear it is minimal and should be nothing to worry about if used for hunting. The .25 pellets are not as convenient to buy. You’ll probably have to order them online and they cost a little more so I would get a .22 for plinking or for target. I didn’t say .177 because .22 is very accurate and it has a lot more punch for squirrels, rabbits, raccoons…ect. As far as pellets go, most have had the best luck with Beeman Kodiaks in the .22 or the .25 caliber. I decided to start with a Talon SS in .22 cal. with the 12″ barrel so I could have a light and quiet backyard shooter. I will soon add a .25 barrel along with some other mods mentioned above for hunting bigger varmints and for longer shots. The longer barreled .22 barrels are plenty strong enough but I just wanted to try something different. I hope this helps and I hope others that actually know what they are talking about will post. Once you have a closer idea to what you actually want, give Tony a call and he’ll be able to help you figure the rest. I haven’t had him do any work yet but everyone is very happy with his work.
