Q:

Shots per charge…

Just after an example. How many full power shots per charge do you, or would you be looking at with a 500cc bottle firing 14.3 grn pellets about 1000 ft/sec from a 200 bar fill??
Cheers,

ahh..lots of choices…goodluck on ur consistency

Ah I see. Thanks Pab 😉 I didn’t think Lang accepted parts.. still may be worth PM’ing one of the machinists and see what they say.
Cheers.

No two valves are the same. The stem is needed simply to check that the fit is good after the o ring is inserted. A little too tight and the o ring groove can be deepened a little….

I’m just talking hypothetically here but yes, The majority of what I do Is hunt. I tend to only punch paper to zero….

Cheers Pab. Why would they need the stem too? I thought It was just cutting a groove and inserting an O ring down In the valve body , Don’t know the correct name for the part off the top of my head.

Fusion are you using this to hunt or punch paper?

Lang or Blod do them. Lang will cost £20-30 and you need to send him stem and brass collar(the piece them stem goes in)

I think 1000 FPS Is possible from the 12″ 😉 I was looking Into the O ring mod. Who does It on here and how much would I be looking at? I think your right, It Is coming from the breech but I get a blast by the front grip too. Thinking about It I guess It’s the air In the rifle housing being pushed through the rifle as I have a set of 3 holes drilled under the front grip and vented front bushings. Oh, my chrono has just gone In for a re-cal as It’s a good few years old and a case repair while It’s there…….. I shot It 😳 😆

Doubt you could get 1000 fps off a 12″ though I may be completely wrong there, I’ve never owned a 12″ !!
You can adjust it to a certain extent by playing with hammer weights, spring and spacers.
Puff of air when you shooting could be from the breech. The stock valve is known to also let air through. Serveral modders here do the o ring mod, which is to put an o ring in the shaft where the th and stem go.
And you definately need a chrony !

So that will be much less using the little 12″ barrel then. No worries though just wondering. How would you set It up well then Pab? I’m using a 1 piece so can’t tune the TH. Is there supposed to be air hitting you from every direction when you shoot 😕

On a standard bottle, using a 24″, as long as you got your rig shooting with the minimum amount of air(well set up!) so you not wasting any, you should see around 30 good shots easy.Thats a very light pellet and doesn’t need a whole lot of air to move it.
Once you got 1000 fps, try turning down the th until you see a slight fps drop. About there is the balance of air to power ratio.

I was only talking the simple mods to do like fileing the spring flat, Increasing the bore size on stem, Increasing the size of the hole In the spring retainer and polishing everything well 😀 I would of thought someone would be running about the same power and a similar set up but obviously not???
Any ideas how much an 800cc bottle would increase the amount of SPC at that power?

quote fusion:

Yeah the valve would be modded very slightly but I would of expected more shots per charge really? 😉

Re the shots/tank: 50 the number I get with no POI dropoff. One could aim higher and keep shooting…..re the modified valve; no experience with shot count whatsoever, just made what I consider to be a conservative yes/no guess.

Yeah the valve would be modded very slightly but I would of expected more shots per charge really? Still, no worries just wondering about performance vs air useage. Cheers mate 😉

Yes, the 18″ barrel increases the efficiency, but it just gives more velocity with the same amount of air. A stock (12″, .22 barrel, no mods) TSS can only push a 14.3 g pellet around 850fps. If you wanted 1000fps, you would need a 24″ barrel or a modified valve.

If you had a modified valve (and probably hammer weight to go along with it), you could put out more useful air per shot and then you would decrease the total number of shots per tank. So yes, if you modified your valve, you could probably do 1000fps and 15 full power shots with a 12″ barrel.

Thanks. Will the 18″ barrel increase efficiency then?? What about using the same numbers I posted origionally but with the stock 12″ barrel? 10-15 full power shots sound about right?
