The blue Mtns. in northeastern oregon and northern idaho, have some of the densest cougar populations in the us. The harvest quota is double any other county in oregon in that area. I believe they allow 240 in that unit each year, which is a helluvalotta cats for a relatively small area. Lots of deer means lots of cats, and some are gonna be better hunters than others. I don’t doubt it’s real.
As a related story, in philomath oregon, a small town about ten miles outside of corvallis, which is home to oregon state university, has had such a cougar problem recently, with many domestic pets disappearing and cats wandering around neighborhoods, they have formed a citizens group quick response team hotline in the event of sightings. I wish they would open up cat hunting in CA. My daughter and I just seen another one yesterday while riding our mountian bikes. It was alot smaller than that one though.
I like to hunt those with nothing but fingernails and teeth. They put up a fight but in the end nothing can take a lama. 😀
And some people say using a gun isn’t fair, we need to use a knife.

Its inconcevable that such cats exist in the USA.
Cats are all over (atleast here in my neck of the woods) and they hide very well. In the last year I have seen 3 cats around our area (1 walked out in front of us while we were driving on hwy 4, 1 ran across the road by our house while we were out on a family walk, and this last tuesday my daughter and I were out riding our mountian bikes and came across a small cat. A full grown male cat can be 11′ tall standing on their hind legs.
